I'll take this review. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:06, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Quite close already. Just a few copyedits and bits of context, and some possible images to add. Placing on hold so you have time to work. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 00:51, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pi.1415926535: Some sludge eluded me here, for sure. I think I was able to address every other issue and a redundant section I meant to remove, too! Should be ready for you to take a look. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 02:28, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sammi Brie: Looks good - happy to pass it. I would add the 39-hours-per-week tidbit to the news section so that it's not just in the lede (MOS:LEADREL is relevant), but that's not worth holding GA up over. Nice work. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:35, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lede

[edit]
  • I don't see a need for the age of the station; that only seems relevant for recent/ongoing events.
  • The lede is a bit thin. Maybe add a sentence about the news operation, and expand the history paragraph by 1-2 sentences?
    • Done. Their public file has a list of all their regular newscasts, so I was able to add an hours-a-week total which isn't always possible. I don't have a lot of info about their news op since, like, 2010, in the article, so this helps.

History

[edit]
  • Is it possible to provide a sentence of context (eg Due to X and Y, the FCC placed a moratorium on new television stations from 19xx to 19yy) and/or wikilink to another article that covers that?
  • Might be worth clarifying that the radio stations applied for television channels.
  • Wikilink coaxial cable
  • The sentence beginning ABC programs moved... should probably be split in two.
  • Alvarado isn't mentioned until it's sold. Seems like it should be named in the previous paragraph.
  • The paragraph beginning In late June... is very short; perhaps merge it with the next paragraph.
  • Split the run-on sentence beginning The FCC approved in November 1972...
  • "golden age" is puffery (unless the sources specifically call it that) and should be replaced with more neutral wording.
  • Similarly, "particularly remarkable" needs to be replaced.
  • Another The station was acquired by H&C... - another that needs split
  • hard-core pornhardcore pornography
  • This allowed KVOA to join...: This sentence is weirdly worded - "allowed" is not the right choice of word - and the mentions of the other stations aren't in the source. Given that the other incidents were 20 years prior, I think you can cut this sentence entirely.
    • Yeah, that sentence was a real leftover. And not a good one. This area needed a little more buffing.
  • Remove "Also" in the final sentence.

News operation

[edit]
  • The first two paragraphs can be combined. (No change to the sentences needed.)
  • Remove comma after "Cox cable"

Other

[edit]
  • Some free images from flickr that would be good to illustrate the article: news vehicle and Mount Bigelow antennas. (I think KVOA is the far right antenna.) I can transfer them from flickr if you need.
