I agree with the proposal, most of Justin Heazlewood is already here, rest can be transcluded and article merged into this one.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:36, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:NorthcoteCafe.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]

An image used in this article, File:NorthcoteCafe.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 18 November 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale

Renaming article request

[edit]

Hi there,

I have an enquiry about my own artist page: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/The_Bedroom_Philosopher

I was hoping to have the page renamed under my own name Justin Heazlewood.

I am a writer who is currently concentrating on writing books under my own name. The Bedroom Philosopher is a musical comedy act and band I did from 2002-2017. While this is still active it isn't an 'AKA' or a name I go under when I am doing my other artistic projects, such as writing.

I would prefer that The Bedroom Philosopher be a subheading under the main umbrella of 'Justin Heazlewood.'

The focus of my career from this point on is writing books and performing under my own name.

I am trying to separate my two artistic 'brands' so that Google doesn't assume my books are being published as The Bedroom Philosopher. Similarly, when anyone Googles 'Justin Heazlewood' I would hope that the wikipedia entry came up as my own name. At the moment most online searches are coming up as 'The Bedroom Philosopher' first - I am sure this is largely due to my Wikipedia entry.

So, to conclude - I wish the main heading of my page to be 'Justin Heazlewood' with the appropriate subheadings to include 'The Bedroom Philosopher' Justinheazlewood (talk) 00:24, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

If I'm not mistaken I believe it is the practice of Wikipedia that only after an amount of time has passed whereby the artist is referred to by their full name in an appropriate amount of references would changes like this be performed, since the sources used now primarily refer to the pseudonym. MOS:NICKNAME gives several examples of artists being referred to by pseudonyms, but that guidance is lacking on advice for pseudonym'ed artists wanting to be referred to by their legal names. I'd like to ping @Justlettersandnumbers: to garner their input, or, if you'd like a wider sample of opinions, you might try the BLP noticeboard to ask for their input. I'll leave this edit request open to garner input here as well, and we'll see what we can come up with for you. Regards, .spintendo  02:02, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Spintendo, I don't think I'm very good at article titles and the relevant policy. However, I have a suggestion in this case: Justinheazlewood has asked for the page to be moved, so I think the next step is a page move request, which should attract opinions from a wider cross-section of editors and ideally lead to community consensus. Will you start that, or would you like me to? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:58, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great, I'll go ahead and start that process. Thank you for your help, it's much appreciated! .spintendo  14:47, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 30 May 2018

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: consensus to move the page as proposed, per the discussion below. The old edit history that was previously merged to this page is now at Bedroom Philosopher. Dekimasuよ! 02:07, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Bedroom PhilosopherJustin Heazlewood – I am placing this move request on behalf of the editor Justinheazlewood (identity confirmed through OTRS) who has asked for this move as part of a COI edit request. Their statement follows: I was hoping to have the page renamed under my own name Justin Heazlewood. I am a writer who is currently concentrating on writing books under my own name. The Bedroom Philosopher is a musical comedy act and band I did from 2002-2017. @Masem: Thank you for your feedback! I will contact the user on their talk page and give them the info for this (Wikipedia:Contact_OTRS). .spintendo  22:29, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, per nom and above comments. Randy Kryn (talk) 00:47, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support if OTRS confirmed per WP:SPNC and subject's polite request and statement that the new name is a long-term change, oppose otherwise as slightly TOOSOON per WP:NAMECHANGES as recent sources are still mixed on usage. -- Netoholic @ 03:29, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Consider WP:NICKNAME: "The name used most often to refer to a person in reliable sources is generally the one that should be used as the article title, even if it is not the person's 'real' name." The subject is referred to, more commonly, as The Bedroom Philosopher and not as Justin Heazlewood in reliable sources. Also note that the Writing subsection already details works under the latter name. Any WP article is to be written for the average reader and greater accessibility occurs for our readers by using the more commonly found name.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:13, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
so have The Bedroom Philosopher as a redirect עם ישראל חי (talk) 14:52, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Reply by your logic the current system should be acceptable to you.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:23, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(nom. comment) Letting editors here know that Justinheazlewood just completed OTRS identity confirmation and the ticket has been posted on their user page. .spintendo  05:26, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. We can easily defer to the subject's wishes here at no cost to ourselves (redirects will still work), so we should do so. With all deference to WP:COMMONNAME, an encyclopaedia should in general try to call things by their real names when there's no good reason not to. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:27, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Reply "no good reason"? The artist has been known as the Bedroom Philosopher for over 15 years (the majority of his career), his writing under the name Justin Heazlewood is nowhere near as widely known. Most of our readers looking for the individual look for Bedroom Philosopher. Surely WP:NICKNAME is a good reason to keep the article title as it is.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:42, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. "The Bedroom Philosopher" was an old nickname that links to mostly old articles. Searching "Justin Heazlewood" brings up many results for more recent things, including (as the request mentioned) books written. Hickland (talk) 03:30, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Date of Birth / Age uncertainty

[edit]

Hi there, Someone has edited my page to question exactly when I was born. 1979 or 1980? Well, I can clear that up.

The information (June 12, 1980) was on this page for years and I don't understand why it is now being called into question. If anyone has the ability to change it back to how it was, that would be great.

Thanks, Justin. Justinheazlewood (talk) 01:11, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's because the source cited only establishes that you were 38 at the time it was published on 10 August 2018, which isn't enough to determine whether you were born in 1979 or 1980. We could add your precise date of birth, but we'd need a published source confirming that. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:35, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've just seen that your date of birth is given on your website, so I'm going to use that as the source. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:40, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
