Is it not the case that he tok this name in honour of Jonny Cash

Name

If he only started to capitalize the "C" in PayCheck in the 1990s, then where the article first mentions him changing his name originally, it should probably be shown as it was at the time, which I presume was "Paycheck."

_____

The article should be consistent on whether it's Paycheck or PayCheck. Since the latter looks like a product name and is silly, I vote for the former (with perhaps a mention that he started capitalizing the C in the 1990s). --Steve

I remember hearing that he took his name as a humerous homage to Johnny Cash. Tony

Misfortunes section-1985 shooting conviction, Hillsboro,OH

Tried to find citations for the 1985 Hillsboro shooting incident. Can't find many of the details mentioned in article. Here's what I found verbatim: "The turmoil peaked when he shot Larry Wise in an Ohio tavern in December 1985. Mr. Paycheck later downplayed the severity of the incident — claiming that the wound to Wise's forehead was treated with a Band-Aid and that Wise was back in the bar later that same evening — but it landed the singer in jail in 1989, where he remained for two years." Source was http://www.johnny-paycheck.com/tennesseanarticle.html which in turn claims it came from a newspaper The Tennessean but the link provided is dead: http://tennessean.com/entertainment/news/archives/03/02/29062764.shtml. Anyone else agree that we should remove speculation about HOW the disagreement started until we can properly source it? GBrady (talk) 14:53, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Misfortunes section-statutory rape, U. of Missouri girl

I can't seem to find mention of this anywhere. I'm thinking this might be someone's bad memory at work. Paycheck DID plead not guilty to sexual assault of a 12 year old girl in Wyoming in 1983. (see http://www.johnny-paycheck.com/tennesseanarticle.html)

"• A plea of no contest in 1983 to a sexual assault charge involving a 12-year-old girl in Wyoming. His lawyer said critical witnesses were unwilling to testify. In later years, Paycheck insisted that he was innocent and that his incriminating plea was entered on the advice of his attorney."

Perhaps THIS was the incident the author intended to refer to? Should the other mention be omitted and replaced with this? However, THIS site (http://www.talentondisplay.com/JohnnyPaycheck.html) says charges were dropped when girl's parents didn't want her to testify? Anything definitive here?GBrady (talk) 14:56, 14 May 2008 (UTC)GBrady (talk) 15:02, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

George Jones bought his headstone?

Not sure if this meets the "reliable" site measure but they assert Jones paid for the headstone: http://www.talentondisplay.com/JohnnyPaycheck.html Also the [Find a Grave site] says the same...GBrady (talk) 15:02, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Forger

This article is in category:forgers. Why? He shot someone, and may have committed statutory rape, but what forgery is he associated with?  Randall Bart   Talk  07:38, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
