Major General John W. White

... that US Air Force general John W. White (pictured) commanded the Iceland Defense Force? Source: "With his promotion to brigadier general in July 1955 he assumed command of the Iceland Defense Force, a sub-unified command of the Joint Chiefs of Staff." ([1])
