A lot more needs to be added, especially concerning Bishop D'Arcy's approach to dealing with abusive clergy. 129.74.231.170 (talk) 13:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have read of Bishop D'Arcy being honored by some as a whistleblower for his warnings about Father Geoghan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 21:49, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

exile?

[edit]

I have seen here and elsewhere some remark that being sent from Boston to become head of a diocese in Indiana was some form of "exile". Although I myself travelled recently to a portion of that Indiana diocese (Fort Wayne-South Bend), I don't know that much about it. It is home to "Our Sunday Visitor" publisher and also Notre Dame University. Also, I notice that:

D'Arcy was succeeded there by Kevin Rhoades, who until then was bishop of Harrisburg, PA, a different suffragan see.

Richard Lennon, an auxiliary bishop of Boston who administered that archdiocese after Cardinal Law resigned, became bishop of Cleveland, Ohio.

Several other auxiliary bishops of Boston left that archdiocese to become bishop of a different diocese.
