Notability?

[edit]

Since it's been announced that a movie adaptation is in the works for the book, does that justify removing the non-notable tag? - Rikoshi (talk) 22:45, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to remove it before using that logic, but someone replaced it Muj0 (talk) 23:43, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the tags and edited the intro according to the PW article, the official website and Amazon listing, but I'm still not sure if I got the info right. Flowanda | Talk 04:49, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've put the notability tag back up, it may help for you to read

Ignis award?

[edit]

It seems the "awards" section is a joke. can anyone verify? I couldn't find anything about an "ignis award" anywhere on the internet except on this page, and the lack of proper capitalization etc. in that section makes it seem illegitimate --209.131.252.14 (talk) 06:49, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, knowing John Cheese, i'll bet he added that section as a joke

The footnote for the "Ignis Award" goes to ignisprize.com, a dead URL. Not only is there no website there, that domain has in fact never been registered to anyone (as of today, July 3, 2009). The whole thing is a hoax, in my opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.12.115.56 (talk) 15:27, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're a hoax. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.234.249.14 (talk) 10:55, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not John Cheese. You're John Cheese. What, you think Korrok ain't watching you too? User:John Cheese —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.151.252.239 (talk) 03:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Plot summary.

[edit]

The plot summary of this book is, for one thing, missing important details and doesn't really make a lot of sense to anyone who HASN'T read the book. It mentions very little of the second half of the book and really is quite awful. I may rewrite it sometime. Also, Molly was implied to be a Golden Retriever, not an Irish setter: Amy, when asked why she paid $125 for the dog, states: "Have you ever seen a golden retriever puppy?". Again, not explicitly stated, but I can't see where Irish setter came from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.214.25 (talk) 05:34, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Molly's breed has never been definitively established. In the original online edition of the book, she was described as having been very golden retriever-like except for the color, but in reprintings the description has shifted to be more Irish setter-like. In the hardcover edition of the book, at the party she's described by Dave as "maybe an Irish setter or a red Labrador, or a ... Scottish rust-dog" and is described as an "Irish retriever" facetiously later on. Amy's question to Dave about golden retriever puppies remains in all editions even though it's made less sense as time went on.MythicFox (talk) 04:13, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So does John die at the end? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.173.122.171 (talk) 23:52, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

jdate

[edit]

For reference: http://web.archive.org/web/20080218141028/http://www.apexdigest.com/Online/interview080203.shtml

The author David Wong himself refers to the book by its abbreviated name "JDatE". Putting this interview link here as a rational for adding a hatnote to the article JDate, since readers may use the search term "jdate" for either JDate or to find the book. --78.34.222.55 (talk) 00:29, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sequel

[edit]

Should there be a mention of "John and Dave and the Temple of X'al'naa'thuthuthu"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.217.6.147 (talk) 22:07, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Author's real name

[edit]

You guys know that David Wong is a pseudonym, right? The author's real name is Jason Pargin.
