No discussion of the attempt to get him into the hall?

[edit]

he had voting numbers that surpassed the single vote record and also he topped the total for the single year total votes. while it wasnt something he did himself, it seems pertinent to the subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.49.21.34 (talk) 04:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If there were a hall of fame for Nicest human being in world history, Joe would be an inaugural inductee. His apparently volatile temper was long gone by the time I heard his name for the first time (Documented by Dan Hoard http://www.amazon.com/Joe-Rounding-Third-Heading-Home/dp/1882203372). I just don't think he warrants a Ford C. Frick award. In fact, I don't want him to win it. It would be demeaning in a way. Joe wasn't loved by Cincinnati because of his skill as a broadcaster (in stark contrast to the supremely skilled Marty). He was loved because it mattered to him, more than any of us, that the Reds won. If you look up JOY on the on-line dictionary, it should link to an mp3 file of Joe calling a Reds dramatic victory, stumbling through a description of what just happened, while thousands of radio listeners had no clue what just happened, but knew it was good. Joe was good for the soul. That's more important than any vote by an expert committee. ShelbyBell (talk) 08:03, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good Guy Award

[edit]

Players such as Bronson Arroyo have been noted in their pages as having won this award. Does it deserve at least a fleeting mention? Jblaze0 (talk) 05:18, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It should be. I just came to this page hoping to find exactly that information. Thmazing (talk) 02:52, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

[edit]

Would a 'trivia' section mention his baseball card being one of Al Bundy's only collectible posessions? Married With Children is a pretty popular source of pop culture notoriety from the 1990s. -- 68.9.50.187 (talk) 23:35, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A trivia section shouldn't exist. If it's important enough to the article, find a way to work it into the prose. -Dewelar (talk) 23:47, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
