Cool, cool. I'm sure many people believe many weird things. Is this story going to go anywhere? If he is forced to resign due to these bonkers ideas or he ends up in some adjacent scandal, I'm sure the news will pick up where it left off. But just identifying wacko beliefs and nothing else in a WP:BLP seems... well... sus. jps (talk) 12:15, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the overall US political landscape, I am surprised that anyone would entertain the idea that being forced to resign due to these bonkers ideas is a thing. But yes, it is a bit thin. Surely there are more actual data about him somewhere. --Hob Gadling (talk) 18:23, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to defend his statements as not "bonkers" or "wacko," but they made a lot more sense to me when I read he was a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate tribe. Mt. Rushmore was a sacred site for many indigenous peoples that was desecrated. He's obviously in conspiracy theory territory, but I definitely went "oh that's probably why" when I read that.
