Joan Stewart of Vancouver-East

[edit]

Leaving this message in the talk page just in case someone much more well-versed at researching than I am could possibly answer this. I'm going to refrain from adding it to the article because I'm not 100 percent sure if it is her or not. Penticton Western News' Steve Kidd's article mentioned this curious tidbit: according to Phillip “[she] ran twice for the party, once federally and once provincially.” This article was published in 2019, implying that she had ran twice previously in addition to the three runs documented on Wikipedia (2019, 2021, and the by-election).

Phillip was known as both Joan Carter and Joan Stewart, I cannot find anything under Joan Carter electorally thus far. Joan Phillip, her current name, has results only in the last 3. Joan Stewart, however, has a single match, which is a candidate in the 1993 federal election under the Reform Party (Canadian Elections Database reference here). Knowing her political history and the conservative nature of the party itself, my gut feeling is that I am doubtful that it is actually her, but geographically (Downtown Eastside riding) and with her previous testimony in mind, it could be a possibility.

If there are any clippings from the time or publications that tie or disprove her connection to this "Joan Stewart" of Vancouver East, that would be ideal. But for now, I am going to leave this talk message in the remote possibility someone who is more well-versed can clear up any ambiguity. Ornithoptera (talk) 01:45, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ornithoptera: Welcome back! Expanded five times, from 831 to 7,331 characters, and nominated in time. The article uses the correct inline citations and is referenced. The image was pulled from Flickr and It was reviewed on 8 January 2024 by FlickreviewR 2 and was confirmed to be licensed under the terms of the cc-by-2.0. It is clear at this size. Prefer ALT0 as confirmed, interesting and cited in the article. The QPQ is done and the article is well written and neutral. Under the "political positions" section we say "slated for demolition" but the exact wording from the citation is different "purchase rental buildings slated for redevelopment". To speed up the process I will make the correction. Bruxton (talk) 04:10, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
