Dyed hair
Since what age does he dye his hair white?
- He doesn't. It's been like that from early age, naturally. Count Ringworm 18:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Controversy
about a year ago I read an article about a screenwriter who was sueing Jarmusch for stealing the ideas for broken flowers from his script that had been sent to Jarmusch or some of his associates but had been rejected.
did anything ever come of the suit? were his claims justified? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.248.163.254 (talk) 05:05, 8 December 2006 (UTC).
- No. "After a jury verdict in favor of Jim Jarmusch, US District Court Judge Ronald S W Lew dismissed Reed Martin's lawsuit on Oct. 10, 2007."

Sara Driver
Worth mentioning his relationship to Sara Driver, im pretty sure they are married. Frainc 01:07 11 December 2006
- No, I don't think they are married. In an interview in The Guardian, November 13 2004 ("A Talk on the Wild Side", by Simon Hattenstone):
- "Jarmusch rarely refers to his personal life. I ask him if he has any family. 'You mean kids? I don't.' He has lived with his girlfriend, the film-maker Sara Driver, for 20 years. 'She's the best. Her only flaw is her taste in men, I guess, because I can't find anything else wrong with her.' Driver produced Jarmusch's early movies. 'We stopped working together after we split up at one point, because all we did was work and we weren't lovers any more, so we were like, this is no good, and then we came back and said, OK, we're not working together, then ever since, well, anyway ... I wish I had kids, especially with Sara,' he says. 'Still could, y'know ...'"

Foreign releases not dubbed
Does anyway have a citation for the part that states that Jarmusch not allowing his movies to be dubbed when showed abroad proved to be a "culture shock to countries such as France, Germany, and Spain where cinema releases of foreign films are dubbed as standard"? This seems to me to be a bit exaggerated. (1) While foreign movies are indeed usually dubbed in Germany and France, this applies more to major productions; I don't think it is that uncommon for independent movies to be shown undubbed und with subtitles instead. (2) In Japan, cinematic releases of foreign movies are as a rule not dubbed, but are always shown in the original with subtitles. (I removed the statement about Japan as there doesn't seem to be a factual basis). Perseus 15:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Culture shock ?
In france, nowadays, most of the cinemas offer two versions of foreign movies : one with subtitles, one dubbed. That works for the non-that-independant-films too. Needless to say, for movies like Jarmusch's ones, everybody wants "V.O" (Version originale, with subtitles). So you're right Perseus, the citation "culture shock to countries such as France, Germany, and Spain where cinema releases of foreign films are dubbed as standard" is nonsense. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by La pugne (talk • contribs) 13:28, 15 February 2007 (UTC).
- I've removed it entirely. He has an aversion to dubbing but he's clearly allowed films to be dubbed before. The Criterion DVD includes the French dub for one. Doctor Sunshine talk 20:51, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Surname
What is the origin of his surname? Badagnani 22:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure I've read that it's Czech, and that Jarmusch himself is of Czech-German-Irish origin, though I'd need to double check. Visserligen (talk) 07:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Music videos
Jim has directed music videos for the likes of The Raconteurs and Tom Waits, should they be mentioned in a section in the article? Cos Eile 14:16 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Escape from what?
I find the subject heading, "Escape to New York" to be very out of place for an encyclopedia. "Escape" would be a proper term if he escaped from something, like a prison or a war-torn country. As it stands, it only shows he escaped from...Ohio? It seems rather POV to put this term into a WP article. He moved from Ohio to New York. His "escape" is something that can be included in the body of the section, not in the section title. Angryapathy (talk) 15:17, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Subsection headings
The subsection headings in the feature film section seem highly inappropriate and POV: "rise to fame," "critical darling," and "experiments in genre" sound like an editor's opinion. I suggest they be retitled to either correspond with a time period (i.e., early '80s, late '80s, etc.) or to mention of specific films (i.e., "Down by Law through Night on Earth" or "Dead Man and Ghost Dog" etc.). ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 01:53, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
