Map language

[edit]

I see that the interactive map is not labeled in English. Perhaps German? Is this intentional? If so, why? Thanks Ben (talk) 18:19, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Working with the Jewish Museum to improve this article

[edit]

Following on our cooperative efforts in the context of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, we were contacted by the Jewish Museum about ways to improve the quality of this still stub-y article, in ethical keeping with our guidelines. I suggested that they send us some background notes which would:

  1. let us know what clear inaccuracies or omissions there may be
  2. aid us in improving the overall quality of the article by pointing us to a few published sources (especially third-party sources) that we can use to build up a good summary of the museum's work and history.

I've gotten a good response from them, and I will shortly start integrating some of the material pointed out in their background notes, and I hope other folks can help us to improve this further. We, the Wikipedians, will of course be the ones writing the actual neutral article.--Pharos (talk) 17:22, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good work, Pharos. I've made some edits and upgraded the assessment of this page to "Start". Obviously, much more can be done with this article, and all are encouraged to contribute. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:08, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox version from a JM staff member

[edit]

After reading Wiki: COI with a great interest as someone who is affiliated with The Jewish Museum I would like to invite Wikipedians to visit a sandbox for the museum which I’ve created:

/A Sandbox of The Jewish Museum New York

There are some suggested changes including list of Collection Highlights, Gallery of Collection images, and Sub-Title “Current” In the future, I would like to add more images to the Gallery, as well as to the page. All this information follows Wikipedia policies and best practices and is factual, neutral and very informative. Thank you! Wise web owl (talk) 22:12, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note to others reading this: The posting of suggested changes in a sandbox was at my suggestion, as a continuation of the meta:Wikimedia NYC collaboration effort above.--Pharos (talk) 18:00, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note that most of those images (the photos of 3 dimensional objects (figurines, lamps etc.) are probably not actually public domain. Photos taken of 3 dimensional objects have a separate copyright on the photo itself. We would need some kind of copyright release from the museum in order to use most of those I believe. Are you in a position to obtain or provide such a permission? If so see here for details: Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. --Sherool (talk) 18:27, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An article about New York Jewish Film Festival - a suggestion

[edit]

Hi! I would like to suggest an article about New York Jewish Film Festival to be added to Wikipedia. The article will be similar to these articles about other film festivals.

Please take a look: A Sandbox of New York Jewish Film Festival

An article about Claudia Gould - a suggestion

[edit]

I would like to suggest an article about Claudia Gould, the Helen Goldsmith Menschel Director of The Jewish Museum (New York). to be added to Wikipedia. http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Wise_web_owl/Claudia_Gould

The article will be similar to these articles:

Thelma Golden

Thomas P. Campbell

Richard Armstrong

Name

[edit]

In the lead sentence we bold "The Jewish Museum of New York". Is that indeed the full name? We cite a source book with title The Jewish Museum New York. The official website uses "The Jewish Museum" on every page, I conclude hastily --whereas the Rosenbach Museum & Library as we call it uses "The Rosenbach Museum & Library" on every page.

Perhaps The Jewish Museum of New York should at least redirect here, whatever the full name of the institution may be. --P64 (talk) 20:29, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Illustration Caption

[edit]

The article currently is illustrated with a line drawing captioned "The Felix M. Warburg House, 1908" It seems to me that this caption is incorrect. The line drawing is more recent, as it seems to include the Kevin Roche addition. Maybe it's from Roche's 1988 plans?

Here's a link to a page http://daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2011/01/1908-felix-warburg-mansion-1109-fifth.html with an early photo of the mansion http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3k2ilY9vkCY/TRi6lpXIEAI/AAAAAAAACG4/VZwgirVtNOA/s400/warburg+1925.jpg, showing it ca, 1925. This would be a nice historical photo for this article and/or the http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Felix_M._Warburg_House article, if the rights are suitable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.97.210.43 (talk) 16:16, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
