Specific Contributions
[edit]Galloway is a pivotal figure in the running community. His advocacy of low mileage training and his preaching of walk breaks in both training and racing have made him both hero and villain to a great many runners. He remains a controversial figure: some credit him for creating the running boom, others condemn him for watering down the sport. So how does Wikipedia claim to be enyclopedic and yet miss pretty much everything there is to say about Galloway? 68.53.72.165 04:20, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree that the page needs some mention of the Galloway Method. However, I wouldn't mention anything about hero/villain unless you have references to back that up - more than a few individuals bemoaning the purity of their sport. And I'd need references to credit him for a running boom - I don't believe his method is practiced by enough people that would account for the boom in running. Where I see a lot of people using it is ultramarathon distances such as 50M. I don't practice it myself but I believe it to be an accepted training/racing technique. I see no controversy. Looks like this hasn't been touched in a while - I agree that we should have a description of the Galloway Method. Coming to this page cold as a runner, I was surprised that wasn't included. I'm new to Wikipedia so as training wheels will draft something up here first w/some references, and then will move it over if no one has anything to add. Extraface (talk) 16:46, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

[edit]I added "citation needed" in this article and did some clean up. More references are needed in the body of the text. Needs a little more work, book format, etc. KarateLady 22:42, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
