Expansion

Gleaned most of this from lecture companies; still a bit below potential. If anyone wants a crack at it, please do so. Jan Scruggs was involved in the Vietnam war and the fund for its memorial. sources:article on the vietnam vertan's memorial an its sources. Also, there is a movie about him and the wall... 'To heal a nation'. Vk2tds 10:31, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paragraph all wrong

"Scruggs' parents divorced when he was 14 years old. His mother moved away, and his father remarried when Scruggs was in his senior year in high school. The summer after he graduated from Bowie High School, he turned 19 years old. With his parents unable to afford college and feeling awkward at home around his newly married father and step-mother, he decided to leave home. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1968, having given little thought to the fact that the Vietnam War was raging."

1) he turned 19 on March 11, 1969, NOT the summer after high school. For one thing, March is in the Spring. 2) this paragraph also implies he joined the army after he turned 19, which can't be true if the Aug 1968 date is correct 3) remove "The summer after he graduated from Bowie High School, he turned 19 years old." and this paragraph would make a lot more sense.
