Do molestation charges against a staff member belong in the article?

[edit]

Apparently a staff member was arrested in 2011 and convicted in 2014 of a number of molestation charges. While he's identified as having been a coach at the school, there's nothing further linking the school to the incident. Does this belong in the school's article, or should it be removed, since it relates to the actions of one then-employee, rather than showing any actions (or lack thereof) by the school? —C.Fred (talk) 18:16, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@C.Fred and BkdavisJserra:Perhaps making the section smaller, adding ""We are outraged and sickened by these disturbing allegations and are cooperating fully with the Orange County Sheriff's Department," the school's statement said." to it, and calling it a day. I do believe this is something that belongs with the school, as it was between a teacher and a student, through a school activity. If a child molestation case through, say, a government organization happened there is no doubt that it would be mentioned on its page, and I see no reason to censor a school's page simply because it's a school. Thoughts? -Kharkiv07Talk 18:33, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also say to change the section heading to just "Incidents", so it can cover any type, rather than just this nature. —C.Fred (talk) 18:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Here's my suggested changes, and I think it can be condensed into one paragraph:
In December of 2011, Spanish teacher and girls junior varsity volleyball coach Ricardo Aldana was arrested on suspicion of a sex act involving a 14 year old student former student under age 14. In a statement, the school said they were "outraged and sickened" by the charges; they cooperated fully with the investigation and dismissed Aldana.[1]
On May 29 of 2014, Ex JSerra teacher Ricardo Aldana was convicted on 3 counts of sexual molestation of a 14 year old girl. [2]
On October 24 of 2014, Ex JSerra teacher Ricardo Aldana was subsequently convicted on three counts of sexual molestation and sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in a Sstate Pprison for oral copulation with a child 14 or 15 years of age, sexual intercourse with a child 14 or 15 years of age, and sodomy with a child 14 or 15 years of age.[3][4]

Does that work for people? —C.Fred (talk) 18:51, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
e/c It isn't a really huge article, and this negative information related to the school in this way really must irk, but I believe it must stay in the article, in some form. At the moment, perhaps we are hitting it too hard, three paragraphs in effect appear too much, and the content ought to be easily enough reduced to one sentence. Perhaps @BkdavisJserra: could suggest something, but please suggest it here, at the Talk page for the article, rather than editing the article directly. Your conflict of interest really precludes you from directly editing the page, see WP:COI for more info. edit conflict good suggestion from C Fred. -Roxy the dog™ (resonate) 19:09, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I completely agree with C Fred, BkdavisJserra? Thoughts? -Kharkiv07Talk 22:26, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and changed it to C Fred's version, if anything this is better for the school than the version that was up, but please feel free to change it slightly or talk about changes here. -Kharkiv07Talk 22:36, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Junípero Serra Catholic High SchoolJSerra Catholic High School – Page moved without discussion away from the proposed title by Cristiano Tomás in January, claiming "only recently been used in marketing materials", but it appears to be the common and official name of this institution. Internally, it seems to be only used for the road to the school and in mentions of the saint [1]. Universally referred to in the news media as JSerra: [2], [3] [4]. Only references to "Junipero Serra High School" are from the very early years/construction process. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 07:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If there is common usage in both school sources and non school sources, I wouldn’t oppose the move. Cheers, Cristiano Tomás (talk) 08:41, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
