J.P. is certainly worthy of a page here, but this article was taken almost entirely, word for word, from his web site (http://www.jp-cormier.com/presskit.html). This is a copyright violation. Even if the material was used with permission, Wikipedia's purpose is not simply to archive material from the rest of the Internet. Dsreyn 19:29, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A question

[edit]

I have very little experience writing articles, and simply thought that this artist (one I had known years ago in college) needed an entry. Since the presskit is expressly for reprint, I had assumed there would be no copyright violations.

I would welcome someone with more experience than I to write an article on this artist.

He's certainly deserving of an entry, no question. I just think there are problems with using the presskit word for word. Aside from the ones I already mentioned, Wikipedia generally encourages a neutral point of view, and the language in the presskit isn't really very neutral in some places. The presskit certainly can be used as a source of information though - it's just better to put things in your own words. Even though you say you don't have a lot of experience at this, why not give it a shot, and then other editors can weigh in if necessary. Wikipedia articles are seldom perfect on the first try, anyway; the best articles are often the result of contributions from many people. Dsreyn 19:14, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll do that, hopefully it will turn out okay. Thanks.

Okay, I have given it my best shot. Please review and if it still doesn't meet standards, I have no ojection to deleting this article. Thanks.

I fiddled with formatting a little bit and fixed a few misspellings, but that looks like a good article to me. I guess the next step is to figure out how to move the temp article to be the main article, without getting it wiped out by the copyright violation notice. I appreciate it. Spellcheck would be a blessing on the editing page. I wondered how to move the temp article to main without the copyright problem....I'll read through the tutorial. --rhmoore 10:43, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could we go to the "temp" article and move it to here? (That is to say, can we move J.P.Cormier/Temp to J.P. Cormier) ? --rhmoore 16:33, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think we need to remove the original page from the list of copyright violations first. I don't know if that's as simple as taking it off the list (seems likely, but better safe than sorry), or if there's something else to be done - I'll check into that. Pages on the copyright violation list get deleted after a while (I think it's usually about 2 weeks), and my concern about is that after moving the temp page back, it might then get wiped out when they purge the copyright violations. Dsreyn 01:29, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just took a look at the current J.P. Cormier page. If I understand it correctly, I think we can just do nothing, and things will get resolved properly. Note particularly item 5: "Unless the copyright status of the previous content is clarified, this page will be deleted one week after its listing. If a new article has been written, it will replace this message." That sounds like the temp page will be moved automatically when the original is wiped. So I think the best course of action is to just let the copyright violation procedure continue, and things should get straightened out. Dsreyn 01:32, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All set. Chick Bowen 02:14, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is JP Cormier. I am happy to let my website material form this article but it is now sadly out of date. How do I fix this article and get it complete and not filled with errors and omissions? 192.64.62.156 (talk) 23:40, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect and incomplete.

[edit]

This article is not accurate and sadly incomplete. I'm trying to find out how I can rectify this. I am JP Cormier, seems I am pretty qualified to fact check my own wiki. How do I achieve this. Have tried in the past with no luck. 192.64.62.156 (talk) 23:37, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
