Reliable sources

[edit]

User:JzG Please move success here for discussion instead of removing. Can you explain why you do not consider these reliable:

  • Griffith University, a well known institution, reporting on a basic fact about a specific event that was not extraordinary
  • News reports used to state only that a local event took place on a particular date, both from well established newspapers, used for stating only "X took place" and when. One of these involves mention of a deceased person, so WP:BLP is not relevant. There are also records on the Hansard Parliament debates mentioning former MP Nicky Morgan speaking on MP awareness - I just haven't seen one for that specific date in May
  • Cinema listings reported by a local newspaper are extremely unlikely to be questionable - and I did not see anything about the size/circulation of the newspaper indicating local ones would not count. Most are owned by one of two huge publishers.
  • Removal of newsletters about an event by the organization that add involved, which started only what happened. According to WP:SELFSOURCE primary sources can be used if
    • The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim. Seems hardly exceptional that awareness events would take place on May 12th when other organizations recognize this date and do similar
    • The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim.

Having looking at other pages including National Reading Day and Ice Cream for breakfast day it seems that a single external link to the founder / main website and using that website to source minor details has not been a problem before. I fact see how any other source would be more reliable than the founder about what the purpose of such a day is, what conditions are involved, or typical activities people might do on that day.
