For unique pairs in a set, is the number of a in set n not a=n(n-1)/2 ie handshakes in a room of n people or the triangle numbers with offset -1?

"Interlingua" vs. "pivot language"

[edit]

Perhaps the article should use the term "pivot language" to avoid any possible ambiguity with a particular Interlingua language. --4th-otaku (talk) 19:50, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the same thing. A pivot language can be any language used as a "bridge" between translating between two languages -- and is usually a natural language. An interlingua is usually not a natural language and is specifically designed for the purposes of MT. - Francis Tyers · 07:41, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
