[edit]would the better pronunciation be hirr'-o-kin, or hi-roe'-kin, or hi-rok'-in? kwami 07:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, it's a compound name, so in Norse both the Hyr and the rok are stressed. kwami 08:01, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Spelling change
[edit]Source: USGS. Spelling changed from Hyrokkin to Hyrrokkin, to better match Norse mythology. Moved to reflect this. --Patteroast 15:28, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Discovery en 2006 ?
[edit]If Hyrrokkin was discovery en 2006, where what that do itself, what his name is S/2004 S 19. I had believe, that the 1rst number is the yare of the discovery, no ? He must call itself "S/2006 S XX" or what thing like that. --Jean-François Clet (talk) 17:46, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- I believe the date in the designation is the year of the discovery image. The actual discovery could be years after that. But I'm not sure it's entirely consistent: if an asteroid is discovered today in a plate from 1950, would it be called "1950xx"? kwami (talk) 07:39, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. Less stark examples included Haumea (2003 EL61) and Eris (2003 UB313), both announced in 2005. Double sharp (talk) 01:39, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
