MovieStock Prices

[edit]

The final moviestock price is based on the box office gross, but does anyone know how they calculate the effect of a trade on the moviestock price? --Surturz 11:44, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The moviestock price is based on traders prediction on how much a movie will make domestically over a 4 week period. -- Billysj 17:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That cannot be right, since traders never actually enter their predictions. Most likely, it is based on the volume of trade in a particular moviestock. So if I sell 50,000 shares of a particular stock, what is the effect on that moviestock's price? --Surturz 19:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that the specifics of the software have never been made public, I guess this is something to do with "manipulation" or fear of copyright theft or somesuch. It must suffice to say that if more people buy or cover, the stock goes up; if more people sell or short, the stock goes down. Rje 11:21, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are 4 trading options. There are the normal buying or selling of the security, which are self evident. In addition there is "shorting", buying negative shares, which is a trade in which the trader thinks the value will go down, and "covering" which is effectively selling the "short." The actual motion of the securities is a patented process, closely guarded, but based upon the pressure of "Buys" and "Covers" which will move the security higher, and "Shorts" and "Sells" which will move the security lower. In a given period, let us say 15 minutes, if the buys and covers outnumber the sells and shorts, the price will move up, lower if the shorts and sells are in the majority. Over a long period of time, the price tends to get close to the actual amount. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrbinns (talkcontribs) 20:11, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HSXD.jpg

[edit]

Image:HSXD.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

How does this game justify a Wikipedia article? None of the external references are active. I've seen numerous MMORPGs removed that had more justificatino for a stand alone article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.8.131.245 (talk) 14:12, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed the reference for the New York Times and added one from Businessweek. Rnb (talk) 18:15, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
