Fair use rationale for Image:Ph pres arroyo.jpg
[edit]Image:Ph pres arroyo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The result of the move request was: Already moved a year ago. I'll start a newer RM soon. (non-admin closure) George Ho (talk) 10:54, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
Philippine Fifth Republic → History of the Philippines (1986–present) – No matter who wins in the Philippine presidential election, 2016 it serves as a demarcation of Philippine history. Rodrigo Duterte is probably going to win which means a new constitution and a "revolutionary government." The cliche end of an era.Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 05:58, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose WP:CRYSTAL If Duterte makes a Sixth Republic we will just start a new article -- 70.51.200.96 (talk) 07:26, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Oppose. As mentioned, this is a classic case of WP:CRYSTAL. Let's cross the bridge when we get there. —seav (talk) 22:52, 7 May 2016 (UTC)OK. This is confusing. The article is currently in the "1986–present" title, which is the correct location. The talk page title is not correct. —seav (talk) 22:56, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Requested move 15 May 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No consensus. I'm a bit confused by the notion that the Philippine Fifth Republic might be equivalent to the Philippines article - generally a country article covers more than just its most modern constitution, although that might be the focus for the politics and governance sections. That's why French Fifth Republic isn't a redirect to France. But no matter. I don't see a consensus to move here. — Amakuru (talk) 21:08, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
History of the Philippines (1986–present) → Philippine Fifth Republic – Or Fifth Republic of the Philippines. The article was renamed (or copied-and-pasted) to the current title a year ago without discussion. I stumbled upon a previous RM and investigated the "renaming" situation. I clearly do not know why it was renamed other than consistency possibly. I see certain sources saying "Fifth Republic" in regards to the Philippines. In the previous RM, one person opposed; so did the other until he found out the change. As for consistency, perhaps I'll propose changes to other articles starting with "History of the Philippines..." when this is over. George Ho (talk) 11:04, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. The article is mainly a history narrative article, and not an article about a republic. So the current title is correct. Please see also the previous move request discussion in a related article. —seav (talk) 12:43, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- But in previous RM, Seav, your opposition was reverse. How? George Ho (talk) 08:22, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- That was because I saw in a different list that there was a proposal to rename the article with the title "History of the Philippines (1986–present)" to something else, which I opposed. I was confused because the talk page was on a different title from the article. But anyway, my oppose reason there is still consistent with the reason I put here. —seav (talk) 08:54, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- But in previous RM, Seav, your opposition was reverse. How? George Ho (talk) 08:22, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose This is written as a history article, not a description of a particular governmental period. The fifth republic is at any rate, the main article Philippines. CMD (talk) 15:49, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Support We divide French history into republics and Chinese history into dynasties. Meanwhile, this period gets the paradoxical label "Contemporary History." Gulangyu (talk) 21:02, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Note that in the China template, the modern periods refer to the modern country articles, which would be Philippines not this page. French Fifth Republic meanwhile, is a page covering the constitutional and institutional basis of modern France, which is not at all the same as this page. CMD (talk) 22:26, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Logically, recent history is just another historical period and should be dealt with in the same format as other periods. People's Republic of China redirects to China because this term is in current use as the country's long form name. But that's not an issue here. Gulangyu (talk) 01:11, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- So do you want this page to redirect to Philippines? CMD (talk) 08:37, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Exaggerated Article
[edit]"In November 30, the largest anti-Marcos protest in the 21st century was conducted in various urban cities and rural provinces in the country, including stronghold provinces of the Marcos family." - Really? With just a few thousands? Even pro-government rallies would dwarf this so-called "largest anti-Marcos protest in the 21st century".

Renaming of "History of the Philippines (1946-1965), "History of the Philippines under Ferdinand Marcos" and the "History of the Philippines (1986-present)
[edit]According to the official gazette website about the third republic state stated here, the Third Republic ended when Martial Law was lifted and the Fourth Republic started in 1981. "Official Gazette" is the official publication journal of the Philippine government, and is managed by the Presidential Communications Operations Office which is a pretty legit source of the History of the Philippines since its the official government website. I seek your opinion about this particular renaming move I petition, if no substantial amount of opposition replies here, then I'll probably proceed with the change by January 2021. If the renaming gets approved, we will split Marcos' presidential term into two halves (1965-1981) and (1981-1986), I also suggest a change of these three articles: (1945-1965), Under Ferdinand Marcos, and (1986-present) into the Third, Fourth, and Fifth republics respectively.
Please reply "oppose or support" and your argument on whether or not you support this renaming. PyroFloe (talk) 05:51, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
