Copyvio claim

[edit]
Resolved

User:CorenSearchBot claims there is a copyright violation in this article. The contents of this article came from History of Albany, New York. I just recently split up that article into various era-based sections in an effort to cut down on an extremely long article. There was no copyvio claim on that article and the link that CorenSearchBot leaves hosts no content relevant to this article. I have no idea if this is a copyvio or not, but I haven't yet seen evidence that it is. If it is, please point me in the direction of the original content that CorenSearchBot seems to have found. Thanks, upstateNYer 18:08, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See this diff.
Regarding this message: The website the bot identified was a copy of a version of Albany on Wikipedia, so there's no real copyright violation. That said, when you're splitting an article like this you do need to attribute the content as described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia so that the original authors are attributed. I'm doing that right now for this group of articles. VernoWhitney (talk) 14:07, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, interesting, never knew that. I'll remember that next time. Thanks for the heads up. upstateNYer 14:33, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
