5. Kelly's Directory of Sussex 1905: Whitfeld Herbert esq. Old Bank house, Lewes.
6. Jubilee Book of Cricket (Ranjitsinhji): 'Herbert Whitfeld of Lewes, Old Etonians, member of the unvanquished [cricket] eleven of Cambridge University in 1878'.
7. The Times 25 Aug 1885: 'Herbert Whitfeld once more took his place in the Sussex team.'
