Is it prequel, sequel, or 'meanwhile' of the original game? the article is contradicting Pictureuploader 18:39, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it is definately not a sequel. I believe you were correct on the Another World talk page when you said Heart of the Alien is a midquel, interquel or side story to Another World. Jimd 12:12, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Having just played the game, I think you're wrong. While Chani may have proposed a interquel, it's a sequel. The beginning tells some prequel and midquel stuff but the actual game is a sequel with a controversial definite ending Nil Einne 11:55, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, which one is right?

[edit]

The page on Another World (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Another_World_%28video_game%29) lists Heart of the Alien as being 'non-canon', or not offical, ie. Eric Chahi didn't have anything to do with it. "Heart of the Alien was not canon. Eric Chahi had nothing to do with the development of this game and stated that he did not like it because it made a definite conclusion to the story, and Chahi had deliberately left the original open-ended. See Chahi's interview here[1]"

I'll correct this in a few days if I don't hear any objections. Ransak 22:50, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article is completely screwed up

[edit]

First of all: Heart of the Alien (HotA) is a sequel. But it almost dosen't have anything to do witch original Another World developer - Eric Chahi. All references made to Another World in HotA is just crap made up by Interplay. Lester dies approximately in half of HotA when the main character (the alien) makes a horrendous mistake and Lester dies in attempt to save him. The HotA engine was different from original AW engine (bitmap x vector) - it was way more stiff. The game got ridiculously hard because of that.

Fixed it for you. M. F. Luder 14:42, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Eric Chahi, spent six years developing Heart of the Alien, and afterwards left the games industry until 2006."

Excuse me, but this sentence is false. Chahi didn`t had anything to do with HotA - it was developed by Interplay. I`ll fix it. --LeD Jake Crusher 20:46, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another vs. Out of This

[edit]

The picture used says, under the title, “OUT OF THIS WORLD”. Shouldn’t the article be consistent with that? —Frungi 01:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, since it was only titled Out of this World in America due to a mistake on the part of Interplay (or was it US Gold??). Eric Chahi has always called it Another World. It might be worth mentioning in the article, though.

Eric Chahi DID participate in making this game

[edit]

it states in the article that "although it was made without the participation or approval of the original game's designer", however this is false as proven by this article in Chahi's own words in this french interview: http://www.grospixels.com/site/chahi.php wherein the interview Chahi states that he gave approval for the level designs that they sent him, and made changes to the picures of the graphics they sent him to show them what he wanted. so there was definitely approval and participation on Chahi's part in this game albeit very limited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.90.216.247 (talk) 04:49, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's true. Read this in his oficial site, megaCD section: http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/another_world.htm
Interplay insisted in making the sequel in order to make the most of the CD-ROM medium's capabilities. After discussion, I agreed.
