changing article name
[edit]Is there any objections to renaming the article Harry Hurt, and redirecting Hugh H. Hurt, Jr. here? "Harry Hurt" is certainly the common name he was referred by in reliable sources except the most official of sources (the Hurt Report lists him as "HH Hurt" on the title page). tedder (talk) 23:28, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm pretty sure he's better known as Harry Hurt.
It might almost appear that his son Harry Hurt III is the author and editor [23] [24], born in Houston, Texas, in 1951. However, the writer's mother's name is Margaret Regina (Bitting) and our Harry Hurt's wife is Joan Beene, and Hurt was working in Austin for North American Aviation, not in Houston, in 1950 or '51 (see Who's Who below & Carpenter's obit). Also, this wedding notice[25] for Harry Hurt III, (the writer) says his father, Harry Hurt, Jr, was president of Hurt Oil Company in Houston, not a safety researcher. Somebody will probably make a page for Harry Hurt III eventually so it could be mixed up.
From Marquis Who's Who on the web: "Harry Hurt, III: editor, author; b. Houston, November 13, 1951; son of Harry and Margaret Regina (Bitting) H. BA magna cum laude, Harvard University, 1974. Freelance writer various magazines, 1974-77; associate editor Texas Monthly, Houston, 1977-82, senior editor, 1982—; script writer ABC Byline, 1980. Author: Texas Rich: The Hunt Dynasty From the Early Oil Days Through the Silver Crash, 1981. Contributor articles to Playboy, Boston Herald Examiner, Oui, New Orlens Magazines Recipient Frank Kelly award Am. Association Petroleum Landmen, 1981, Anson Jones award for medical writing, 1982. - Weird. I thought Harry Hurt III was "our" Harry's son. He's not? Thanks for researching it. tedder (talk) 00:08, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, move the article. --Biker Biker (talk) 07:35, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm going to move it, per consensus and the NYT obituary, which says "said his son, Hugh H. Hurt III, who, like his father, is called Harry." It's slightly awkward, but very clear, that "Harry Hurt" is the correct name. tedder (talk) 19:46, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
