Lots of info here to do a good Bio [1]

2008 presidential election (neutrality)

[edit]

In 2008 Simmons was listed as the sole donor to the American Issues Project, an independent political group with 501(c)4 tax status that created and bought airtime for ads falsely accusing 2008 Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama of having ties to William Ayers, who had been a member of the Weather Underground.

Source citied ([[2]]) mentions nothing of ad accuracy.

This connection has been deemed to be completely false as Obama was 8 years old and living in Hawaii when Ayers was involved in the non-fatal bombings of the U.S. Capital and Pentagon

Source citied ([[3]]) lists numerous connections between Obama and Ayers: "Twenty-six years later, at a lunchtime meeting about school reform in a Chicago skyscraper, Barack Obama met Mr. Ayers, by then an education professor. Their paths have crossed sporadically since then, at a coffee Mr. Ayers hosted for Mr. Obama’s first run for office, on the schools project and a charitable board, and in casual encounters as Hyde Park neighbors." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.198.133.254 (talk) 12:49, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Falsely" removed.... that's apparently a stealth "revert" to an earlier version. Why not go ahead and fix it as you see fit? It might also be good to quote the letter that Obama's lawyer sent asking for the FEC investigation, which is available online.Phoebe13 (talk) 15:02, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Litigation Involving Simmons

[edit]

I removed this section because it very much needs fact-checking, organization, and shortening. As it is, it was just a random list of court cases, and did not provide information about outcomes or rulings of cases, or if they were notable or if the list was just that: a list. If anyone wants to tackle this and organize it in some coherent way, it might be better justified as inclusion here. Otherwise, it would read like a laundry list that doesn't have a lot of context. The original content can be retrieved from the archive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.237.128.86 (talk) 17:55, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There indeed was litigation against him regarding actions with companies he controlled, Tie metals at least. --Aflafla1 (talk) 05:49, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GOPAC in the 1980s

[edit]

I've marked the statement about GOPAC with a "citation needed". Gingrich was not Speaker until the 1990s, so I don't think he could have been the original founder of GOPAC. Aardvark92 (talk) 04:58, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
