african grey headed woodpecker

[edit]

The link to African grey headed woodpecker given on this page gets a circular redirect; but the Latin binomial given for the species (Dendropicos spodocephalus) redirects to Grey Woodpecker, where however a different Latin species name is given. From an external link in the Grey Woodpecker article, it looks like there's been some reclassification. Would someone who knows more about this stuff than me care to put it right? There has been some reclassification in 2014, but that did not actually concern Dendropicos spodocephalus; that was just a wrong redirect, should have gone to Eastern grey woodpecker. Fixed now, with added note on P. canus triple split. I have removed the merge template as there really is no factual basis for a merge :) -- Elmidae (talk · contribs) 14:04, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I note that the described distribution of this species differs in the text (which includes "far india", meaning south east asia) and the map (which excludes all of south and south east asia) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.214.235.90 (talk) 09:17, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
