Never played in the NBA????

[edit]

Now wait. He was an All-American, had his jersey retired, but never played a day in the NBA?? What is up with that? Does anybody know why not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.4.61.136 (talk) 18:31, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't uncommon back then for highly successful college players to not ever play professionally. Sometimes their skill set, which served them so well at the college level, just wasn't NBA-ready. Other times, they weren't interested because the league had not yet established its credibility and, to some degree, respect that it now has. I've even researched on players who bypassed the NBA because they had better paying jobs already lined up (imagine that in today's world). Jrcla2 (talk) 22:33, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
