Issues

There are two major issues with this article:

The headword. Graiki would be the Modern Greek form of Γραϊκή, a name attested for this region only at Thucydides 2.23.3, 3.91.3 and Stephanus of Byzantium s.v. Oropus, citing the first Thuc. passage. Since this is an ancient topic, a transliteration of the ancient form should be used: in English-language scholarship this would be either Graike or Graica, probably with the diaeresis.
Scope and synthesis. As just stated, this name is barely used in Greek literature, yet the location has a rather full article of etymologizing, all of which is covered elsewhere and is here strung together without reliable sources leading the way. If the current content of this article were recomposed without synthesis, it would read little more than:

Graike (Γραϊκή) was the name of a region near Oropus on the border of Boetia and Attica that was a dependant of Athens during the Pelponnesian War.(Thuc.) Like Graikos, it's name derives from the PIE root *gere ("to grow old" or from gray), Proto-Greek *grau-j ("old age"), and later geras or keras ("gift of honour") in Mycenean Greek.(Beekes)

And this is assuming that Beekes actually mentions this word. A search of the online version of the Dictionary does not yield any citation of the toponym among the related headwords. Thoughts? — ^[dave] cardiff | _chestnut — 20:24, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have now, after about a month and a half, cut out the synthesis and moved the article from the modern Greek transliteration to a transliteration of the Ancient Greek. A redirect without the diacritic is in place. — ^[dave] cardiff | _chestnut — 16:16, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
