Talk:Global Game Jam
Little Bit of work
[edit]Some of the ELs probably need to be refs. Added reflist. Added stub cat. Added a stub. Converted 1 EL into a ref. - sinneed (talk) 16:28, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
More sources
[edit]A large number of sources are available at http://www.globalgamejam.org/press --Elonka 15:12, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
COI
[edit]For the record, I was recently appointed as one of the co-directors of the Global Game Jam. It is a volunteer position, and I have no financial interest in the event, though I am of course extremely interested in seeing it continue to thrive and grow. I doubt there will be any problems with my edits to this article, but I did want to declare my association with the topic. --Elonka 15:15, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Sponsorship section out of date
[edit]I followed the publicity section but found it to be horribly out of date. The orignal reference isn't even up anymore. Suggest removal. Someone else can replace with more recent, though I'm not sure if having a section is necessary. There seem to be many sponsors each year. 207.239.115.78 (talk) 07:55, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
Theme annoucement
[edit]Well, like i said in the edition, i dont think their is a reason to keep secret the theme in Wikipedia. This is censorship. But i will not undo another editing, so do what you want. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.215.15.75 (talk) 23:05, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
It isn't censorship. If you have an official source that states the theme then put it back with the reference. Until you can prove the theme there is no need to put it up. 98.225.216.217 (talk) 23:21, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
As a first time participant, for a two days before jam i was sure that "this is censorship"-guy spoiled me half the fun discovering theme. Luckily, actual theme was completely different, so it was just a stupid joke.95.27.225.119 (talk) 16:45, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
Events category
[edit]I've added the Portal link and the VG Events category. There doesn't seem to be a better sub-category to use here, since GGJ isn't technically a competition, and the others don't quite fit either. jxm (talk) 17:14, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
Accessibility Diversifiers (Suggested References)
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I suggest that one or both of the following references be restored to highlight the work that the Global Game Jam and the IGDA Special Interest Group on Game Accessibility have done to promote game accessibility through their scheme of accessibility-related diversifiers:
- Some of these are designed to drive creative development by adding a unique or limiting factor to their a game’s design. For example, “Picasso Lives”, in which game art must be cubist in style.[1] However, others are designed to promote game development practices, such as the accessibility diversifiers like “Both Hands Tied Behind My Back”, which helped to improve attitudes towards game accessibility.[2][3]
I am a researcher and author of both these papers. These are both scholarly peer-reviewed articles published at academic conferences run by professional bodies (the SASDG and the IEEE) and I receive no financial gain by promoting them. They are publicly and freely available. I am in no way affiliated with the Global Game Jam itself, as an organisation, other than as a participant and volunteer venue host. I believe this contribution should be included to highlight the (measurable) good that the GGJ has done to promote game accessibility, which may serve as an example to other large-scale hackathons.
They have both previously appeared on this page, but were recently removed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael.adrir.scott (talk • contribs) 20:19, 2017 April 8 (UTC)
- I'll send this to WP:WCAG for review. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 03:39, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry for the long wait Michael.adrir.scott. I have implemented your changes into the current revision of the article. It appears the last revision made by MrOllie removed these references, calling it "refspam." However, to clarify for the user in question, the references are okay per WP:OVERCITE, which states only one or two references are okay for verification, but not more than two. jd22292 (Jalen D.
