I hope to review this in the coming days. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 22:13, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Prelim

[edit]
  • Earwig reports copyvio unlikely

Lede and infobox

[edit]
  • Infobox says service began in 1869 but main text doesn't specify this
  • Tweaked to take into account his service in the East Cape War. I have also tweaked the text to make more explicit his second period of service commenced in 1868, the start of Te Kooti's War. Zawed (talk) 08:28, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Te Kooti's War

[edit]
  • Worth adding the link you use for Armed Constabulary again here
  • "returned to Tūranga" reads like this should mean something, but this is the first mention of Tūranga
  • A sentence outlining the rest of the siege after 4 December would be a useful addition

References

[edit]
  • While this article appears complete I thought I'd see if anything else is available to flesh it out:
  • [1]: 3x mentioned in dispatches, two attempts to enlist in the First World War
  • [2] More details about engagements Preece was involved in, including the Battle of Te Pōrere
  • [3] Details of his constabulary service, including that he resigned in June 1877, not 1876
  • [4] A civilian image of Preece and biography, includes his initial rank of ensign, disagrees with the above source about resignation date

@Zawed: Hi, that's all I have for now. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 09:40, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Zawed: In case you've passed this by. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 17:17, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Pickersgill-Cunliffe: thanks for the review, this is ready for another look. I have bulked out the details of his service in the period in 1869–1870, which covers off some of the details mentioned in the references section. RE the resignation date, the 1877 date seems to be an outlier with most of the others, including the one I think is most reliable (Schofield), stating 1876 so I have gone with that. Passing this as satisfying the GA criteria. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 13:56, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
