Notes

[edit]
  • Rem ref from lead  Done
    • Done.
  • Is there any info on his personal life or after football?  Done
    • Not much, I added another award named after him.
  • "going on to serve nearly three decades with the school" that source looks like it is offline so i cant check it but how do we know he had nearly three decades. No one seems to know when he was athletic director.
  • also "three decades with the school and later being named athletic director and head of the physical education department" that doesn't sound accurate. That makes it sound like he was there for 3 decades and only THEN did he become the athletic director.
    • @WikiOriginal-9: OK, so I did some research and found the offline source in my email archive (I don't believe in such a thing as "deleting" emails) - it doesn't say the exact dates but says he began serving as SIAC commissioner in 1970 - we also know he began his career at A&M in 1941 ('42 as head) and it this article from '69 mentions "George Hobson, long time coach and athletic director at Alabama A&M University was honored for 27 years of service [note that it'd actually be 28 considering he started in 1941]" (verifies nearly three decades) – I don't think it would have been possible for him to have been SIAC commissioner and Alabama A&M AD at the same time (as a conflict of interest) - also, per here and here, Hobson was "boosted to athletic director" after having been replaced by Louis Crews as football coach in '60 - so it seems he coached from '41-'59 and then was AD from '60-'69 (though note that the AD final year is not completely verified and somewhat speculation) - what would you suggest? • can you change "and later being named" to "including stints as athletic director and head" because right now the way its worded it sounds like he became athletic director after the initial 30 years

That's all I think. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 06:20, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • "As athletic director, Hobson took Alabama A&M from having" can you change this to "After becoming athletic director in 1960" or something and add that ref from above that said 1960. Also change infobox to "1960-?". Also if you type "George hobson athletic director alabama" in newspapers.com, a Jan 27, 1973 snippet pops up that says the SIAC met under the directon of Hobson, athletic director of Alabama A&M. So maybe we should get rid of the "nearly" and just change our article to 3 decades. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 07:18, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • also can you cite the snippet above from jan 1973 if possible and put it after the "three decades" claim in the article. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 07:21, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

All points have been addressed. Passing the article. Nice work! WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 20:50, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
