Historical Maps of Hamilton

[edit]

I have some contributions to make but am too much of a newbie to figure out where it should go and exactly how to get it entered.

Here’s what I have:

Bird's-eye view of Hamilton, Ontario in 1859

This map or drawing of Hamilton was created in 1859 by G.S. Rice of Endicott & Co., in New York. It is acto Bird's-eye view of Hamilton, Ontario in 1859. The legend indicates some prominent buildings from that time period. https://www.loc.gov/item/98508477

Insurance plan of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

This fire insurance or Goad map ([[1]]) was created by Charles E. Goad in 1898 https://digitalarchive.mcmaster.ca/islandora/object/macrepo%3A71336. The purpose of this map was to assist insurance companies with respect to establishing insurance rates and risk of fire. https://www.lib.uwo.ca/madgic/fips.html

Issues

1. I tried to provide a reference for what a Bird’s Eye View map or drawing was using this link: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Bird%27s-eye_view but it was rejected because the % symbol was not recognized.

2. It’s unclear to me exactly where this entry should be placed (main entry on Hamilton or Geography of Hamilton)

3. I would need some guidance around it’s formatting as I can’t follow or understand the pattern of the method currently in use.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
