Page name

[edit]

It is unclear why the page is called by his full name, if he is best known as Geoffrey Bruce. Yoninah (talk) 11:38, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Because, when I created this article, there was a redirect from Geoffrey Bruce to Geoffrey Franklin Bruce, I did not consider I should take a decision as to which was the primary topic. Thincat (talk) 12:20, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Pages with similar names can be resolved through a disambiguation page. Per WP:NCP, the page title should be the name that is used most often to refer to him in reliable sources. Can I move this page to Geoffrey Bruce (officer)? Yoninah (talk) 14:03, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see why not (but can you sort out any DYK consequences if there are any?). He is always called "Geoffrey Bruce". Disambiguating with (mountaineer) would be more obvious but, as the article says, he wasn't really a mountaineer! It could be worth another redirect, however. I like your idea of "mountaineer". I'll do the move and clean up the links and the DYK consequences. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 18:47, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
