Citations for laws
[edit]@Pengortm: Greetings! Regarding this revert of this text:
- The federal Equal Pay Act of 1963 made it illegal to pay women less simply based on gender. The Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 made all sex discrimination in covered workplaces illegal (with exceptions), and this coverage was expanded to the basis of pregnancy by the 1978 Pregnancy Discrimination Act.
I'm not sure what sources you are requesting. I described this material as "self-documenting" because the body text refers to the documents being summarized, so no footnotes should be needed for verification. It's true that the names of the documents are also internal links, but that's just for readers who want more in-depth information about those documents. -- Beland (talk) 02:06, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hello and thank you for collegially taking this to the talk page. I agree with you that this sentence is pretty benign and strikes me as very likely correct. Still I am not seeing these points established in the body of the article and they should be backed up by sources. I have added the sentence back in with a citation needed tag. -Pengortm (talk) 16:53, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Data is incomplete to make useful conclusions
[edit]You cannot take earnings data alone and draw all the conclusions suggested on this page. Are they working exactly the same job with the same level of experience and output, for the same amount of worked time? If there is a difference in any of those things the data here is meaningless. Even among a single gender there will be large differences in pay for the above factors. Statements about these issues with the data need to be voiced as ignorant people will draw false conclusions based on this incomplete argument. 172.56.40.213 (talk) 18:33, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
