Merging

[edit]

This article is one of several but the only one of the HaruToki ones to be flagged for potential merging. The reason I separated the Hachiyou out in the first place was because of the horrible mess that was the original HaruToki main page. Although Takamichi may be seen as 'low importance' in the big scheme of things, it makes little layout sense to try and merge his back with the original page and keep the others separated. It also would make a very long and involved page to put all the Hachiyou on the same page as they were before. All the Hachiyou are ranked as equal character importance anyhow, as anyone familiar with the storyline knows. It seems to make much more sense therefore to keep Takamichi and all the other Hachiyou as separate character pages. There would be absolutely no benefit to anyone to merge them, and now that the manga and anime are being released in English, the demand for the character pages will probably rise in any case.Etherella (talk) 13:17, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did not flag the other articles for merging, as I am - along with a few others - working through all anime and manga articles in a sistematic method. I am proposing that the article be merged to an appropriate list of characters; such lists stands a much better change to be upgraded to featured list status than a character stands to be upgraded to good article status. For this, and the other character'sarticles, to remain seperate, it would be important to add real world information about the character (production/design, reception by the public, amongst others). Be careful not to include only plot information; see WP:NOT#PLOT. Regards, G.A.S 13:52, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Understood in part, although I would've interpreted that kind of information as biased reporting considering that it's difficult to adequately represent the reaction of the public in, say, a country you don't live in. I'm in England, I import my manga etc from Japan, HaruToki isn't released here in any form whatsoever. So that kind of data should really come from someone in Japan or America where the series are licensed and released.

Takamichi was the only one tagged at the time which is why I queried it.

The original HT anime page was flagged up for being too long and unwieldy so that's why I took it on, separated the characters out into their own pages and linked them from the main page instead. It seems to make more sense that way.

I guess I see where you're coming from, though. I'll have to go back to my manga and see what I can discover about the characters and so on from what the manga-ka and so on say. I can certainly add plenty of opinion from the seiyuu who played them but I wasn't sure that that would be acceptable in an article about a character, rather than the person who played them.

If that makes sense?
