SR 4080's interchange
[edit]IIRC the route interchanged with is Valencia College Road, but as I can't be 100% certain of that I put it in "notes" in the page until someone can confirm it. - Aerobird
Eastwards ho!
[edit]OOCEA's current long-term plan includes an eastern extension of 408 to I-95... - Aerobird 00:26, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- How are they planning on extending it? Along 50? There doesn't seem to be room to cut through the developments otherwise. --SPUI (T - C - RFC - Curpsbot problems) 06:36, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Last I heard the regional "master plan" is to handle that (theoretical) traffic by widening SR 528 to at least 6 lanes throughout, with the the primary justification being the increased capacity for hurricane evacuation from Brevard. In addition to agreeing with SPUI's observation regarding acquisition of right-of-way issues, I do not believe SR 50 east of Bithlo is congested enough to justify the need for a tolled alternative. Then again I only drive that stretch sporadically so... Still interesting info though so if references could be mentioned that would be great! --Jasap 23:49, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
In March 2006 the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority Board approved its most recent update to its long-range plan, the 2030 Expressway Master Plan. The 2030 Plan identifies existing system improvements as well as potential expansion projects to help meet the transportation needs related to continuing growth expected in Central Florida. At the request of surrounding counties, the Plan considered transportation needs from a regional perspective and partnership opportunities for toll roads in adjacent counties.
Prior to committing to constructing these potential expansion projects identified in the 2030 Plan, the Expressway Authority has commissioned several local consultants to conduct Concept Development and Evaluation Studies to identify those projects that should go forward in the project development process. These Projects to be studied include:
Extension of SR 408 west from SR 429 in west Orange County to SR 27 in east Lake County: Prime Consultant – Kittelson and Associates Extension of SR 417 north from SR 417 in Seminole County to SR 46 in Seminole County: Prime Consultant – Kittelson and Associates Extension of SR 408 from its existing terminus near SR 50 at Challenger Parkway in east Orange County east to I-95 in Brevard County: Prime Consultant – Reynolds, Smith and Hill Extension of SR 417 in Orange County south to Florida’s Turnpike in Osceola County and then west to I-4 in Polk or Osceola County: Prime Consultant - Wilbur Smith and Associates Expansion of SR 528 on existing alignment or within a new corridor into a multi- use/multi-modal corridor: Prime Consultant - Dyer, Riddle, Mills and Precourt
The primary goal of these Studies is to determine the potential feasibility of the proposed projects as a limited access toll road and to establish a framework for a future corridor study, if necessary. Specifically,
Is there a transportation need within the study corridor to expand existing facilities or provide a new transportation facility? Is a limited access tolled facility necessary to solve that transportation need? Are there any potential social or environmental impediments which would preclude development of this Project? Are there any Partners willing to participate in the development of this Project? Two advisory committees will be formed to provide input into the process. An Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) will review potential environmental implications and possible mitigation strategies. A Project Advisory Committee(s) (PAC) will address potential social, economic and community impacts, along with possible mitigation strategies. Upon conclusion of this portion of the studies, a financial analysis will be performed for each potential project and for the system as a whole. This will determine which, if any, of these improvements are feasible as toll facilities. Those that are feasible will proceed to the Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) phase of project development.
These studies kicked off November 2006 and will be ongoing for the next 12 – 18 months. As these studies progress, periodic Fact Sheets will be developed to inform interested stakeholders and the Public on the status of the projects. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.17.5.99 (talk) 20:25, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
