Your information about it being the first main console game since Radiant Dawn is incorrect. Path of Radiance was on gamecube and is the prequel to Radiant Dawn and should be labeled as the main console game since then, not Radiant Dawn. 156.34.165.80 (talk) 22:50, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Artist for Three Houses confirmation

[edit]

There is confirmation on who is an artist on the game: Chinatsu Kurahana. Source: Siliconera, who got it from Nintendo of Japan's article on the game. It's already mentioned on the Japanese Wikipedia article on the game and the Japanese article on the artist. 204.62.118.151 (talk) 20:03, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: When I use Google translate to translate the Nintendo source, it lists a "Mr. Chika Okura" as illustrator. Is this the result of a bad translation? See translation:
"In addition, I am handling character design by Illustrator, Mr. Chika Okura . Among the images of this time, were there any characters you care about? Many other people will appear, so please look forward to seeing what kind of encounter they are waiting for."
As well, can you be more clear on what exact change you want done? Do you simply want sources added? Is there a line you want added? Be specific.  DiscantX 01:23, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The information on the composers (Rei Kondoh and Masato Kouda) presented on the page doesn't have any source that confirms its validity. The editor who added the information in this revision never gave such a source from where did they get their information. I suggest that, if there are no such sources, the information should be deleted from the page until the game's composers are officially revealed. 2.154.199.85 (talk) 21:05, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The rating on the IGN review is a 9.5, not an 8.5. I believe this to be a typo as the video linked as the source clearly states it is 9.5 at time stamp 4:56 Wyrden14 (talk) 18:49, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Part of the Gameplay section has a sentence that doesn't make sense: "...the player has a set number of days marked on a calendar, which can be used for a variety of activities from teaching classes and field exercises." The final structure is unfinished; I suggest "from teaching classes to field exercises," or "from teaching classes and field exercises to planting seeds in the greenhouse and fishing in the pond." Also, there are a couple typos in the Development section: change "Koei Temo" to "Koei Tecmo" and "Ingelligent Systems" to "Intelligent Systems." 128.119.216.64 (talk) 21:24, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Numbering

[edit]

@Dissident93: I know it's a pain, but this needs discussing. You removed the entire numbering element from the lead, saying it didn't need numbering "per WT:VG discussions". I have to ask, which discussions are these? Are they a general rule that's passed me by or specific to this series? Can you link them? Also, this makes the article unlike the other main entries in the series, which have gone through the GA process with those notes without protest. --ProtoDrake (talk) 20:56, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The producer line in the infobox should be changed from Hitoshi Yamagami, Masahiro Iguchi to Masahiro Higuchi, Hitoshi Yamagami. In the end credits, this is the order in which the producers are credited and Higuchi's name is spelled incorrectly in the infobox. BZL8 (talk) 16:58, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominate for GA?

[edit]

@ProtoDrake: / @Boyohboy231: / anyone else watching this page:

Beats me how they calculate the time limit, but theoretically this article should be nominated for Good Article status to maintain the Fire Emblem Good Topic distinction. For the most part, it looks fine to me, lots of details in the "Development" section. The main issue is possibly some more post-release Reception (the initial wave of reviews isn't everything, especially in an era with DLC), and that the Plot section is rather long compared to the official guidelines (pre-timeskip + each individual route is at 700-750 words, but with all the routes combined? Yeah that's over.). Also, possible that there should be a screenshot of the Monastery segment of the game? It's pretty different than the tactical RPG segment so would probably pass a fair use test of having critical commentary on it.

I took a hack at this - chopped down the Plot section a little, added a source on digital sales & DLC - but possible some more needs to be done. Thoughts? This ready to be nominated at WP:GAC (with an apology for still being over the Plot length guidelines), or more work required? It looks like you two did the most work on it, so perhaps you'd know best. SnowFire (talk) 23:30, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am watching this page, though sadly haven't had a chance to contribute all that much to it. One thing that I have been meaning to add for a while but haven't got around to yet is a paragraph for the reception section about same-sex romance options. It received a decent amount of dedicated coverage and I have several browser tabs of potential sources sitting open waiting for me to find the time and energy. While this probably isn't entirely necessary to meet WP:GACR, if you're just looking for possible ways to expand the article and feel like saving me the effort, here's my list of links. Two general reviews that cover the issue: [1][2]; three dedicated articles: [3][4][5]; relevant comments on Twitter from one of the game's voice actors: [6]. GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, and grammar): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR): d (copyvio and plagiarism):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
The fair use rationale for the school setting image is weak, and is just a copy of the one for the combat image. I would recommend cutting the school image, as it doesn't really convey anything that readers would need visual identification in order to understand.
Removed.
A lot of the people in the infobox are unsourced and not mentioned in the article's body. It would be best if you could find sources for their involvement and mention them elsewhere. Also, the directors are mentioned in the body, but readers lack clarification that they were the game's directors.
I've cited them the best way I can. Most of the credits weren't filled out by me.
While players primarily engage with students from their own house, it's not entirely accurate to say that the Garreg Mach portions are for interacting solely with people from their own house.
Corrected.
Taking off on this point, the Gameplay does not make mention of the recruitment system, specifically in that you can recruit people from other Houses to join yours as well as recruit certain teachers. It should mention that you can recruit characters you build support with either through them randomly deciding to join you or by the player-character defeating them in battle post-timeskip (if you have a high enough Support level).
I didn't find any sources for the latter, but I've cited the former.
It should be clarified that Byleth obtains the ability to reverse time from Sothis following her protecting Edelgard from harm.
That's more gameplay related. I've added that the ability comes with a story event, and clarified Sothis's role in the story section.
"If Byleth sides with Edelgard, Byleth reunites with their students and Edelgard" -> "If Byleth sides with Edelgard, they reunite with their students"
Fixed.
"teh" typo
Fixed.
"Voice recording took three months," "Voice recording took three months;"
Sorted.
"The English title referenced the three school houses featured in the story. Due to its awkward English rendering, the team decided against directly translating the Japanese title." A little redundant, you could instead say "Due to its awkward English rendering, the team decided against directly translating the Japanese title, calling it Three Houses in English instead."
Sorted.
The "multiple characters on screen for the first time" detail is a little confusing. I understand what it means, just that it should be clarified that it's not merely multiple but a large number.
Done.
The Reception section feels a little light. This is not enough that I would say "add more or I fail!!", but it would be nice to see more over time. I also notice that the style changes from the first two paragraphs to the last, with opinions not being directly cited to the authors in that paragraph where they were in previous ones.
I would've filled it out a bit, but I'd have been parroting very similar sentiments from each outlet. As to the third paragraph, I seriously couldn't find enough variety in commentary to have individual citations. I've used it in other articles that were passed for GA, so I didn't think it would be too troublesome.
The digital sales, were they worldwide? In the UK?
Didn't write that section, it was physical only.
It says that it became the second best-selling in the series in November, but it doesn't clarify what the numbers of the mentioned games (Fates and Awakening) were to give a sense of scale. It also doesn't indicate how much more the game sold in order to hit that milestone.
Previous uncited statement said it was best-selling period. I've removed the thing.
"The Gamer" and "GameRant" are not considered reliable sources.
Both removed.
@Abryn: I've done my best to address the issues you raised. --ProtoDrake (talk) 22:28, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2020 Sales Numbers

[edit]

Hello, I don't want to get into an edit war with DatAlphaLion, but they've reverted my edits that are only the official Nintendo-provided sales numbers (2.87 million), instead promoting an unfounded, unsourced, and unverified claim that the sales numbers are officially over three million and it's the best-selling FE game. That's not officially confirmed. I would like the Wikipedia article to only reflect official, confirmed numbers.

--Prince Ludwig (talk) 03:11, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this and have restored the old figures. It is better for us to have out-of-date but reliable figures than more recent but unreliable ones. They can be updated as and when we have a reliable source for them. Lowercaserho (talk) 06:28, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese sales numbers.

[edit]

According to Nintendo's May 7 2020 financial report, Fire Emblem Three Houses had sold 580k copies in Japan as of March 31 2020. I think this information should be added to the article.

Having both the Category:Video games featuring female protagonists and Category:Video games with gender-selectable protagonists categories is redundant. Shouldn't it just have "video games with gender-selectable protagonists"? Effect-kun (talk) 14:27, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
