Added EGM scores

[edit]

seeing how there wasn't much on the reaction section I added it, feel free to edit it for grammatical errors and etc. the reference and issue is Nov. 2007 issue 221 (do not know how to do add that to references) comment added by Elijah 10-8-07

Balthier

[edit]

I wonder how they'll make his character look in this game? I ask because he was already obviously modeled on Beowulf from the original.

I have posted a picture on the main page from a trailer from the official site, who keeps deleting it ?? ! ~NeoMagus26

It only serves to clutter up the page. If you like it so much, I'll fix it. Somehow. — Bluerです。 なにか? 19:39, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most people interested in the game will want to see it .. I dont see how it clutters the page.

The page does not need a picture to say Balthier's in it. The links have already done that. — Bluerです。 なにか? 19:44, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only link I see is here in discussion , which most people will never come into, it should be moved into the article if the picture is such a gripe. ~NeoMagus26 19:54, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Ha, okay. Not that link up there :D . The link in the article, the reference after the Balthier statement. Don't get so upset, man, the link provide pictures of Balthier in FFTSS, full scale even. Don't be mad, ya? — Bluerです。 なにか? 19:58, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

noted on #6, dont mind a blind old man here.. ~NeoMagus26 20:02, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Any word on whether they're re-translating the entire thing?

[edit]

I ask for two reasons:

  • With the new material they're adding, they'd probably have to translate other portions of the game anyway.
  • The original translation is terrible.

Any word? I took a look, but didn't find anything. Cheers, LankyYell19:09, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So far there is no news on a NA version. Probably wait for some weeks after the JP version is released. Stay tuned. — Bluerです。 なにか? 19:43, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the game is going to get a new localization as per the newest referenced article from Gamespot. They even confirmed the month for the release date. LanceHeart 04:22, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And now I have to get a PSP... Though I suppose I'll miss the charm of the poor localization. Cheers, LankyYell20:29, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
1Up.com did a rather thorough preview of the US version, including citing some examples of the original text versus the re-translated text. http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?pager.offset=1&cId=3162322 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.230.230.191 (talk) 11:57, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

edit the page/ release date

[edit]

the release date for the US version will be October 9th heres the source http://www.square-enix.com/na/company/press/2007/0709/ Towers84 04:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's already there. Thanks for your concern. p/s: new topics start at the bottom. — Blue 02:49, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Voice actors?

[edit]

What happened to the section that listed the confirmed voice actors? 70.227.26.98 01:57, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not really necessary to have them listed. No other Final Fantasy game has any voice acting credits listed. LanceHeart 00:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes

[edit]

I have now bought the game and I think yes, but I would like someone to create a list of differences between the two versions to make it easier to make that choice.24.118.227.213 04:08, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is place where anyone can edit, even you. Add it yourself :) — Blue 06:54, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The differences are not really my area of expertise.24.118.227.213 03:49, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dead links!

[edit]

I have removed two dead links but the change was reverted. Archive should be found for these two dead links. Thanks! FFXII International + Paul Rodgers (talk) 15:45, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slowdown

[edit]

The recent revert got my attention: All released versions of this game have the same amount of slowdowns and sound desynch, though the issues aren't addressed in any of the published reviews of this game (strangely enough). Would a user-submitted youtube video suffice as proof that all versions of this game undergo the same problems? LanceHeart (talk) 01:20, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, that would not be accepted as a reliable source and you'd also run into copyright issues since we're not allowed to link to copyrighted content on YouTube. I suppose the wording could be changed to suggest that the slowdown was not fixed for the US version. Axem Titanium (talk) 03:42, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm having a hard time finding a way to reword the text in order to indicate that the slowdown actually still exists and isn't just being ignored by reviewers. The only foolproof way (without written sources) to show that the game has the same slowdowns on all versions is a visual comparison of all of them, not just rewording. LanceHeart (talk) 11:58, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good thing I found this page. I did a little research and a youtube video I found (search "fft slowdown") is eligible to be used as an external link because it doesn't violate copyright laws since it was taken at a gaming convention. And photographs or video footage taken at a convention are allowed. So use that. Mediumenemycrab (talk) 05:06, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Even if it's allowed as a link, we can't use it as a source, note. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 12:45, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was harassed by two IPs in my talk page for removing their input about the slowdown. I ask: is there a way to address this? — Blue 12:56, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Content was removed per Wikipedia:Verifiability. Youtube video content can be disputed, therefore reliable, third-party published source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy should be sought out for the content to be placed again. Thanks. — Blue 18:21, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There was obviously foul play when it came to the slowdown issue. For a game-wide issue to not be resolved at all between two releases and for it to have been downplayed and/or not mentioned at all suggests that either the people didn't know of the original game at all (1UP saying the slowdown is comparable to PS1 in the NA/EU version is beyond off mark) or someone didn't even compare the two PSP releases side by side (again, 1UP's doing). Obviously we won't get any credible sources on this issue because the game has been released and reviewed already, so we truly are stuck on either user-created video proof or hoping someone who has access to a credible site actually does the comparison for fun. LanceHeart (talk) 14:11, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As is often pointed out, Wikipedia relies on vierfiability, not truth. It's the reason we, say, didn't have an article on Oink's Pink Palace until it was shut down. It SHOULD have had one, but since there was a very 'hush hush' thing about it, it was never covered by reliable sources, and therefor didn't meet WP standards of notablility. Similar here, if no RS's cover it to verify (and we can't use a primary source such as a video of gameplay to do so), then we can't add it. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 14:29, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where Are All The Screenshots That Show What The Battle Looks Like?

[edit]

I'm tryin to get a PSP and hopefully; this game. However, i am curious as will it retain it's same look from the PlayStation One. Would Someone please update some battlescenes? Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shor7es7 S7raw (talkcontribs) 19:43, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for a late reply. Actually, we won't be adding any in-game screenshots (and should get rid of the ones we have that aren't PD or FY). I would recommend looking at the vast amount of links in the references section. They're bound to have a picture or two of in-game battle, not to mention one link having a video. Starting. Please allow a couple of days before I get to my review. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 12:35, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to take a look at this in the very near future. In the meantime, several of the citations are currently dead and need repair. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 05:13, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I feel that there are enough problems with the article to constitute a non-trivial overhaul (for example in an early paragraph I found an unitalicized title), and the user has been inactive for most of the month, I am going to fail the article. Please relist once you have ensured - ideally through peer review - that the article is ready. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 06:48, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments

[edit]
  • "originally for the Sony PlayStation Portable" - get rid of Sony, really no need for it here
  • originally for the Sony PlayStation Portable" - also, write this out as PlayStation Portable (PSP), for clarity
  • "for the PlayStation video game console" - also get rid of "video game console" as the reader will know what they're in for. Also, PlayStation needs to be linked to PlayStation (console) (the first one)
  • "This also includes new playable characters from other Final Fantasy titles" - should be The War of the Lions also includes or something like that
  • "Ramza's soldiers can each equip a Job" - should 'job' be capitalised?
  • "they are lost for good" - try they are lost permanently
  • "Following the trend of Final Fantasy video games on PlayStation systems" - link PlayStation (console)
  • "Because of the PlayStation Portable's screen size" - de-link this, as it's already linked
  • "according to Famitsu magazine" - lose 'magazine'
  • No dead links
  • Ref 61 is missing an access date
  • No dab links

Looking good. Once all are clarified then this should pass. JAGUAR  11:39, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

With all of the issues addressed, this is good to go! JAGUAR  19:40, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
