[edit]Hi, I am very happy to see that he is eventually on Wikipedia. Why he is a bass baritone? I think he is better described as a bass. ---- schpnhr Nov 22 2007
I often see him described as a bass, but his list of roles does include many prominent lyric bass-baritone roles such as Figaro, Leporello, Don Giovanni, Méphistophélès, King Philip, etc. Theshoveljockey (talk) 22:21, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Well... That's true that Furlanetto made lot of roles for a bass-baritone, but first of all, for example, King Philip's role IS NOT for a bass-baritone, it's surely for a bass. Then, lot of importants basses made in their careers roles for a bass-baritone, as Cesare Siepi, Boris Christoff and Nicolai Ghiaurov, but they are classified like Basses. And the same is for Furlanetto. For this reason I changed "bass-baritone" with "bass". User:Damiano90 (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2009 (UTC +1) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.54.196.248 (talk)
I agree. Don Giovanni, Mephistopheles, Figaro, etc. might often be considered bass-baritones, but lots of basses have sung them, from Ezio Pinza to Giorgio Tozzi. As a matter of fact, I'd say Tozzi is more of a bass-baritone than Furlanetto, and yet one's listed as a bass while the other is a bass-baritone.
