Name of the subject of the article

[edit]

The web site of the University where he works calls him Dr. Farouk El-Baz, [1] as did the New York Times when they reported in 1993 on his discovery of the 'Kuwait River'. [2] (not 1994 as the article says). So why do we spell his name differently? I presume that he is happy with the way Boston University spells it. Alma Mater

[edit]

The Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (MSM), the University of Missouri at Rolla / University of Missouri - Rolla (UMR), and the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST) are all the same school after various name changes (MSM to UMR in 1964 and UMR to MST in 2008). However, his undergraduate degree is listed as being from MSM (which is what it would have been called in 1961), but his doctorate is listed as being from MST (which it most definitely would NOT have been called in 1964). I'm reluctant to just change it because of the citations, which are obviously using the modern name despite it being an anachronism, but why the discrepancy?72.197.227.204 (talk) 17:11, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
