Image Replacement

The image contained in this article is clearly taken from a mascara advertisement and is, therefore, not appropriate for Wikipedia. First of all, it is likely under copyright. But, second, and in my opinion more important, is the fact that it does not display the eyelid clearly. A medical photograph would be more appropriate. Perhaps someone who is invested in this article can replace this image with a better one. Unfortunately, I am tied up with responsibilities to other articles. I have found a better image that more clearly displays the eyelid. Unfortunately, though, it is also may be from a mascara advert and, therefore, may or may not be copyrighted. I found it in another Wikipedia article so I really don't know... Consequently, it's probably best to replace this one too. In other words, only use it in the meantime while seeking out another one. "Double Eyelid"

A double eyelid is a type of eyelid where a crease exists. In contrast, a single eyelid has no crease. There is a wide variation in the location of the crease, particularly in the Asian double eyelid.

This should be cleaned up and expanded upon, if it's actually important enough to have its own section. It's not clear whether this is a medical term, or purely cosmetic. Pictures could be useful. Alex Dodge (talk) 18:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Couple of Sentences removed

Human centrism?

Surely primates have eyelids, like all mammals. Even many birds and reptiles have eyelids. And some fish. The main page of this article could be improved by touching on the differences. 216.99.219.113 (talk) 04:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

I entirely agree. I can't think of another Wikipedia article about an anatomical feature that doesn't contain "human" in its title but nonetheless focuses exclusively on the feature in humans. Neither can I think of another that gives the impression that the feature exists only in humans. It's known that there are differences between the eyelids of some animals (e.g. snakes) and those of humans, but the article doesn't touch on these. — Smjg (talk) 22:06, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Eyelid twitching

Upper and lower

I confess that I thought people only had 1 eyelid per eye. The article's main image & its caption makes it fairly clear that there are 2 per eye - with the thing at the base of the eyeball also counting as an eyelid (the lower eyelid). I think the article text mentions 'upper' and 'lower' eyelids, but never introduces the terms. The intro currently says "The human eyelid features a row of eyelashes ... ". What do people think about a change to "Humans have an upper and lower eyelid for each eye, with each eyelid featuring a row of eyelashes ... ". Open4D (talk) 17:20, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Actually, there are as much as three eyelids per eye (the third one is that little pink thing in the nose corner of each eye). To amend the intro is not enough, there should be a separate section with a list of eyelids. 195.187.108.4 (talk) 10:08, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
