[edit]I added Salizhan Sharipov as he is listed as a crew member in a press relase dated Jan. 11, 2008.--navy_blue84 Navy Blue 16:46, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Reverted. Hektor (talk) 18:05, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hektor, it would be helpful if when you say you revert someone, you explain why. In Navy's defense, his reference was thorough, valid, and not surpassed by any other official press release that contradicts it. However, NASA now has an Expedition 18 page up, which would confirm that Yuri is the FE1, with no mention of Salizhan, so unless RSA releases further information, what is up on NASA should be taken as official. Additionally, I have removed the statement about his being replaced due to health concerns, as there is no source to prove that is true. Finally, I have yet again, removed redundant flags. NASA = United States. NASA Astronauts represent the US, so it is redundant to put flags by every single astronaut. It is against the Manual of Style to put these flag icons in the article at all per WP:FLAG, Wikipedia is not a place for nationalistic pride. Flags are visually striking, and placing a national flag next to something can make its nationality or location seem to be of greater significance than other things. In the case of Space Mission articles, agency affiliation is what matters in the context of the article, not a person's nationality. Historically with the Soyuz flights, it is done with the first mention of each agency for those not familiar with which agency is from which country, but icons need not be put by each astronaut, that is what their bio pages are for. - The Expedition 18 pre flight press conference took place in Houston NASA JSC six weeks ago on July 30 2008 with the said crew (Fincke and Lonchakov) so everybody knew who the crew was. Reason for revert was therefore obvious and not a matter for discussion. The medical condition of Sharipov has been reported by Novosti news agency on May 7, 2008.
