This wiki is just an advertisement for Exeter School

[edit]

Hi i've never heard of any of the 'notable' alumni bar Norman Shiel mayor of exeter and mr Farrell Hockley. Am i the only one who suspects that this school is trying to promote itself on this wiki by including any former pupil they can think of who happens to have a mention on another website.

As for the rest it just reads like an advertisement, the constant references to their successful sports teams and calling them a 'dominant force' in squash. Are there any citations to back these claims up?

If i don't get a consensus within 48 hours i'm going to go about editing this article into reading a little less like a prospectus!!

Thank you

Agree 100%. Who on earth are 'Tristian Kelly', 'Lionel Aggett', 'Harry Pennell', 'Gary Lockton', 'Richard Reynolds', 'Charles Vlieland' and 'William Jane'? I've never heard of 'Norman Shiel' either but i'll take your word for it that he's mayor of exeter and therefore notable. There is no doubt in my mind that Exeter School is using wikipedia as an avenue for advertisement. The sport section reads very erm, how shall i put this without being rude, POV? If i were you i'd go ahead and edit it this article is a disgrace LOL.

Additional reference

[edit]

There is a useful reference for the history of the school here. -- zzuuzz(talk) 21:22, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did the prank really take place during a parents' buffet?

[edit]

I was there when the prank took place, and I believe that it took place during a normal school day, sometime early in the morning. I have edited the article to say that this is a claim made only by the daily mail. If anyone wants to correct me, please reply to this thread. Jbonner01 18:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Motto

[edit]

The motto was incorrectly deleted by some overzealous trumped up popinjay who probably still lives with his mum and eats dog shit crumpets for tea like a big nonce, check the veracity and I'm sure you'll be surprised.217.44.233.180 (talk) 20:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo"? So the school adopted a line from Catullus 16 as its motto. Perhaps you could a) provide an independent reference for this being the school's motto, and b) provide a translation. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
