name of the church
[edit]So, Mootros, why did you change the name of the article again? You changed it without giving any reason, but you want me to give some justification. okay. So, some people consider wikipedia their property. I got it. Anyway What's the difference between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Finland (appearing like that in the English wikipedia) and the Evangelical Church in Central Germany? Okay, the later is a member of the EKD. Does this justify to break the unwritten rule that all Church names get translated in the English wikipedia, including all churches worldwide calling themselves Evangelical in their language of origin? Also, this Church has never been a Landeskirche in the sense of Established State Church, it doesn't call itself this way either. If Landeskirche is used instead of Gliedkirche it means nothing else than regional church (like in Landesbausparkasse, Landesbank, etc.). Land is a very general word in German, the US is a "Land", Thuringia is one, and even landscapes can be called that way (Siegerland, Sauerland). It's obvious that you are not familiar with the term Evangelical. I got that as well. But there are too many church bodies calling themselves "Evangelical" in the English speaking world to call this a valid objection. Now we have a title the average English speaking user won't be able to pronounce correctly. That's all we got. Any special circumstances don't become any clearer by that. --Mk4711 (talk) 18:41, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
no objection so far. so i guess the move can be undone --93.130.247.45 (talk) 01:25, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
area covered by this church
[edit]I changed the description of the area covered by this church because it was not accurate. --77.181.31.69 (talk) 15:14, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Central Germany as cultural area
[edit]Explication for recent reverts: The territory covered by the Church cannot be equated with Central Germany. First of all the exact territory of Central Germany cannot be indisputably defined and is depending on the context. If a region is regarded as a cultural unit, one has to observe the cultural history in a longer term, not in a recent development of the last ten years. Expressions of culture have to be considered, such as regional language or regional architecture. From this point of view one cannot consider northern Saxony-Anhalt (or even central or western parts of S.-A.) as Central German than rather North or Northeast German. The notion to regard the fairly young federal state of Saxony-Anhalt (founded in 1990) as a whole as a Central German state is rather politically motivated or from an administrative point of view.
If the adjacent territories of other Evangelical Churches shell be listed, please list all:
- Evangelical Church of Anhalt
- Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brunswick
- Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia
- Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony
- Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria
- Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Hanover
