Publications list

[edit]

Staszek Lem, is there a reason you keep removing the list of journal publications? It happened in 2017 and again recently. I have been asked about it off-wiki and (obviously) do not know your motivations. Primefac (talk) 14:06, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In Wikipedia, we do not list publications. We do list books. Staszek Lem (talk) 15:57, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Once again: we do not list published articles, peer-reviewed or not. Staszek Lem (talk) 20:11, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Staszek Lem, where does it say that? I found Wikipedia:WikiProject_Bibliographies#Goals which seems to imply we should list publications; I can totally understand not publishing everything someone does, but it seems like 5 journal articles won't break the metaphorical bank. Primefac (talk) 13:46, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
the key words in the guideline you cited are important to the topic of the bibliography. Importance is decided by peer opinion, not by Wikipedian's opinion. If some reliable refs say "this or that article was groundbreaking in ..." or something similar, then of course it makes sense to list it as an important work. Otherwise it is WP:TRIVIA. On the other hand, if a certain publication is of recognized importance, it must covered in the bio, no?
Now, the question to the ones who wants to add this list: What are your criteria to chose these 5 articles?
BTW, WPBIBLIO is a guideline for wikipedia articles which are bibliography lists, such as List of works by William Gibson (by author) or Bibliography of India (by subject). Staszek Lem (talk) 19:49, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

These recent 5 articles published by Eugene Hlywa were significant contributions to his major theories on hypnosis, spirituality and psychotherapy. They are the only 5 peer reviewed English articles he published in Australia in the decade before he died. Eugene was respected by many of his colleagues and friends both in Australia and internationally. He was very proud of these 5 articles and I and others personally can recommend them as a maor part of Eugene's contribution to humanity. Please could you advise me how to keep these articles in his major publications list or in the references list as to delete them would be unfair and a huge loss to the late Dr Eugene's work. Sorry, Wikipedia cannot be responsible to any loss of anybody's work. If his work is notable, then it must be recognized as such be his peers' community. There is no problem to have a list of books, because there is little doubt about their individual importance for person's work. As for publications, the importance of a person not his publications, but his contributions to knowledge. These are covered in the sections typically titled "Research", "Work", "Contributions to...", etc., which are written basing on reliable references to opinions of other people with a reputition in the area (meaning that opinions of equally nonnotable peopoe, such as a Serhii Boltivets do not count). Google search for the name ""Eugene Hlywa" gives very few references. Therefore I do not think his contributions to science was significant, and his articles have little impact. You are welcome to prove that I am mistaken.

By the way, please provide detailed references to all information in the article, so that it can be verified. Unreferenced text may be deleted at any time. See our policies, WP:V, WP:CITE, WP:RS. Staszek Lem (talk) 17:04, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
