Revision and Expansion of Page

[edit]

Hi fellow Wikipedians,

Myself and a team of editors ( 'CelestineDB', 'Rebecabc1999', 'Nhannaa', and 'tavakoh') are working collaboratively to update and revise d'Aelders' page in order to raise the profile of this influential Dutch woman, who was an outspoken feminist activist during the French Revolution. As part of this edit we have drawn information from existing pages on Etta in both French, Dutch and Spanish- in order to make the English page comparably informative and detailed. We have expanded the lead section of the piece, added greater detail to her life and biography, and introduced new sections explaining in particular her skills as an orator and her revolutionary activity.

We have also conducted independent research on Etta's life and activities in the context of other prominent female voices during the Revolution, drawing strongly on the work of Judith Vega, and other dissertations and theses published on the topic. We have focused in particular on the connections Etta made with feminist and revolutionary circles and her work in moving beyond these groups, as she sought more equitable rights for women.
