CAS number

[edit]

I see that there is some dispute over the CAS number for this substance. EFSA has the CAS number for the hydrocholoride salt in an entry about E243 ([1]), but surely the name for that is Ethyl lauroyl arginate HCl? ([2]) — The Anome (talk) 11:02, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@MCF19: @DMacks:, would you like to comment on this here? — The Anome (talk) 12:13, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the CAS number of Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCl is CAS No. 60372-77-2 and has a E243. MCF19 (talk) 13:59, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I think it would be better to amend the information in this article, as the CAS number related to E243 is the CAS No. 60372-77-2, and in the information about periodontal disease in this artiche is related to the E243 as it can be read in the reference itself. The result of this discussion was merge. Post-merge cleanup can address any corrections needed between the two chemboxes. Mdewman6 (talk) 18:47, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

These articles appear to be about the same chemical, though the new one is full of useful content and reliable sources. Uncle Spock (talk) 10:07, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes support the merge, as although one s about the ion, and the other about the salt, both cover same content, as they are mostly on application. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:46, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your observation, the Ethyl lauroyl arginate page has some errors:
- The E-243 referred at the beggining and the 3rd reference, "Pilloni, Andrea; Orrù, Germano; Carere, Mauro; Scano, Alessandra (October 2017). "Adjunctive use of an Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate (LAE)-containing mouthwash in the nonsurgical therapy of periodontitis: a randomized clinical trial". Minerva Stomatologica. 67 (1): 1–11. PMID 29087093." are from the salt. Meaning that the unique content of the page is not related to the actual title of the Ethyl lauroyl arginate page.
- The CAS Number 48076-74, displayed in the Chembox does not correspon to the salt. It should be the CAS Number of the salt, displayed in the Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate Hydrochloride page, this is CAS 60372-77-2.
- Also the formula displayed in Ethyl Lauroyl arginate page is not valid for the salt, and therefore neither is it the molar mass. It should be C20H41ClN4O3 and 421.02 g·mol−1
I don't know how to merge the articles. MCF19 (talk) 12:54, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
