Istook Live! and new photo
[edit]Since July of this year Ernest Istook has hosted a radio show called Istook Live!. I think it would be appropriate to update this article to include a mention of this. I have prepared an addition and a citation to add to this article, but would prefer to have this change reviewed and completed by another editor because of my potential conflict of interest. I work for The Heritage Foundation, where Ernest Istook is a distinguished fellow and from where he broadcasts his radio show.
I believe this information should be added to the Post-congressional career section. Below is how I suggest adding this information into the article. I have highlighted my addition to this section.
- Post-congressional career
- Ernest Istook is a Distinguished Fellow at The Heritage Foundation and host of the radio show Istook Live!. Launched in July 2012, the show is supported by Heritage Action for America and broadcasts live from The Heritage Foundation.[1] Istook contributes opinion columns to a variety of outlets including The Daily Caller,[2] Human Events, for whom he writes a weekly column,[3] The Huffington Post,[4] and Newsmax, where he writes a blog. He also is a talk radio host and has daily radio commentaries broadcast on the Bott Radio Network stations.[5] He has appeared frequently on national radio programs as a guest host and has filled-in for a number of talk radio hosts including Mark Levin, Jerry Doyle and on "America's Morning News". Istook has also been a guest analyst on national television including appearances on most major news programs.[6]
- He became a Fellow for the Institute of Politics at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in early 2010. The fellowship was for one semester, during which he taught a study group on Propaganda in American Politics.[7]

Can someone make this change? I also think this is appropriate information to add to The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action for America articles. I'll be posting short requests on those talk pages. If an editor here could also help me with those requests, that would be great.
Also, I've uploaded a more recent photo of Ernest Istook to replace the image currently used in this article. It was taken by The Heritage Foundation but is appropriately licensed for use here. The image can be found here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ernest_Istook_2012_portrait.PNG I hope an editor will be willing to replace the older image for me.
I'll be keeping an eye on this talk page if there are any questions. I will respond here as I am able. Thanks! Thurmant (talk)
- Looking at the article, I see it was already there, except for the name of the show, which I added.
- But btw, I also saw that ref 9 is a dead link. Most of the routine bio seems to depend on that, so it would be well to find an alternative source. DGG ( talk ) 00:20, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking at this, DGG. Since there are a few things to reply to here and I have a couple of questions, I'll put these into bullets so they're easier to follow:
- Thanks for adding the name of the radio show into the article. I have just one question about this: the source that's there now doesn't mention Istook Live! since it's a new show in 2012, can you add in the Entertainment Close-Up reference provided above?
- Would you be able to add in the new photo of Istook that I've uploaded?
- Here is a new link for reference 9: http://www.iop.harvard.edu/ernest-j-istook-jr Would you mind adding this into the article?
- I saw that you'd made a few edits to the article, which look good to me. One thing I did notice is that there's an unfinished sentence at the end of the Jack Abramoff section. Does "According to plea documents," just need to be removed or did you intend to add more text there?
- Thanks! Thurmant (talk) 18:34, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and made several changes to this article. I put forward these changes here several months ago, however I've struggled to find editors to help and the requests have gone unfinished. Given that the information about Istook Live! has already been added to the article, I've decided it is appropriate for me to make the following small changes:
- I have added two sources to support Ernest Istook's radio show Istook Live! The source currently in the article does not mention the show.
- I have corrected the dead link for reference 9.
- I have updated the photograph in this article. The image I have added is a more recent photo of Ernest Istook.
- If anyone has questions or concerns about these edits, please let me know. Thanks! Thurmant (talk) 20:06, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
