Winning Medallists
[edit]The first athlete known to have won the ECCA National Cross Country Championships is Walter Hesketh (born 3 October 1930) who won the Youths Championship in 1948 in Sheffield and went on to win the Junior Championships in 1950 and 1951 beating the famous Gordon Pirie, before winning the Senior Championships in Birmingham in 1952 aged 21.
