Feeback at Peer review

[edit]

I've initiated a peer review following recent updates to the Eluru article. Please take a look and share your feedback. I.Mahesh (talk) 15:57, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@I.Mahesh, I am glad to see your interest in peer review with a desire to make the article qualify for GA. Here is my review. Hope it is of some help as this is my first peer review of article.
a. Citations:
  • For citations of books in Bibliography, use {{Sfn}} or similar templates
  • Britannica is a tertiary source, better to have a secondary source
  • Citations with multiple pages cited need to be split and each page need to be cited at the end of appropriate sentence of groups of sentences. Citations should cite authors separately. Example source: "1. Goel 2. Pande 3. Madhavi 4. Parveen, 1. A K 2. Rekha 3. Ravulapati 4. Zareena (August 2023). Telangana Land and People (Volume 3 ed.). Hyderabad: Dr MCR Human Resource Development Institute. pp. 104, 105, 106, 107. ISBN 978-81-957545-2-6."
  • Check each citation to verify the numbers cited in text: "approximately 400 people were affected. Multidisciplinary teams from WHO and AIIMS, Mangalagiri were dispatched to investigate the outbreak." the citation from BBC says the count is 500
  • Update citations to Eluru district website, where West godavari district website citations were used.
  • Use citation in text also, even if it is used in figure or table. (ex:Religions in Eluru)
b. General points:
  • Consistent use of abbreviations example: AD and A.D.
  • Use internal links only for the first appearance at the top level section other than lead, usage in figures/tables Example: Vatluru is linked twice in Transport and connectivity. (Useful script)
c. Lead:
  • Better to split lead into 3-4 paras frome existing two
  • Update lead finally after the update of content, carefully checking the consistency with the actual body.
d. Content:
  • Copy editing is essential, as 2020 incident is still referred to as recent.
  • Avoid use of bullet lists, better to write add one or two sentences about their importance, (sections: Cityscapes, Notable people)
  • Check relevance of maps, images, which are required to amplify the impact of the description in visual manner. examples: a) In Modern history, the physical map of Andhra Pradesh is shown which is not relevant. b) In Local government section, image of police quarters appears to show only greenery.
  • Politics section coverage can be more on Municipal corporation elections
  • Historical content in major sections like Economy can be moved to history section: Example: Sri Krishna jute mills
  • Economy can be split into agriculture, industry, services sub sections. District statistics handbook may be a useful source.
  • Distance to nearest airport could be mentioned.
  • Section sequencing could follow structure of other GA listed articles like Tamil Nadu
